Van Comparisons

Featured Replies

Hi,

We are thinking about buying a van soon. It will serve some business purpose, but will also be for the family.

I've looked at the Volkswagen Caravelle and Toyota Commuter. Clearly, the price on the Caravelle is huge by comparison. That said, the finish on the Caravelle as it comes is also clearly superior, so if we were to buy the Toyota, we would be looking at acquiring a similar finish after market.

Given that information, I am hoping to get some informed opinions here on which would then be the better buy and why.

Thanks for any information or opinions.

I'd be interested as well in people's reports re new Kia Carnival.

I have a VW T4 V6 2003. Ran great, no problems but that is partly due to my expertise on the VW ECU's. Seats by far is much more superior than a Toyota. Interms of handling, this van handles much better than the Toyota. I did drive the Noah in comparison.

My family would never ride around in a van, like parcels. They would need windows in the sides.

Think you should think about a Mini-Bus for such a purpose. Vans don't have windows in the sides, except for the 2 front doors.

Your thinking about commercial panel vans as in EU/US, Soi224 is talking about about vans as they are known in LOS do some research and you will realise what he's talking about.

If the Commuter is not suitable check out the Majesty on the toyota site. It is a luxury version of it for about 2M bt.

Hi Kartman. I know you mean well, but try researching the more subtle variants of under-stated humour.

I have researched vehicles for 40 years and nomenclature should be specific. A van is a van. It's for goods. It doesn't need windows. A bus or a mini bus does.

A cart needs a horse, yes? Your kart needs a track.

Let's set a good example so folks can readily understand, huh?

It appears everybody else who replied so far understands apart from you? We are in Thialand so a van is not what you are talking about.

well never mind ^^

There's also the toyota alphard Hybrid which is made in Japan... more expensive but it's a great, safer and ecological car loaded of the latest technology.

I think the VW is a bit powerful and has a better handling as well as the Mercedes Vito... but less comfortable

If it's really a matter of money... you should rather look the ventury, not especially the majesty version, but it's better than a Commuter which is more a kind of Rot Tou.

Cheers,
