If The World Could Vote In The Us Elections

Featured Replies

Interesting. If it can be believed, Albania and Macedonia are the only two countries in the world where McCain is winning.

I say "if it can be believed". For instance, the site claims to have received votes from 208 countries, which I found interesting as a quick search of a couple of sites only shows there to be 195 countries (including Vatican City and as yet unrecognized Kosovo).

Portugal has "registered" more votes (over 38,000) than any other countries other than the US and Canada. Australia isn't far behind at 37,000, while the UK lags at only 30,000(ish). India and China (the 2 most heavily populated countries on earth) have registered only 2,500 votes between them.

Perhaps the most glaring question mark would be the nation of Niue, a tiny rock off New Zealand, in the Polynesian islands. Total area = 240 kms. Total population (est) 1,492. Votes registered - 932 (over 62% of the total population).

Little Iceland shows over 7,000 votes, 5 times as many as Japan.

It would be interesting to know why (supposedly) over 86% of the world would prefer Obama to McCain (I mean the honest truth, not the PC version).

Because they believe Obama's campaign rhetoric. They think that McCain is a hard-core Republican and "another Bush", when he is anything but.

Both candidates are good men, but Obama has been a much better at campaigning. :o

probably because people are voting more than once. Fatal flaw IMO. Should only allow one vote per computer/cookie

I've said before it will make little difference to the rest of the world who gets in. (Unless you're Iranian and McCain wins).

Neither will change, or for that matter be able to change, America's domination of the world financial markets or the way it's done.

The policy of rape and pillage will continue, the countries who pay their workers the least will get the jobs, and lose them when wages go up.

And, yes General... before you say it, I still think they're doing a better job than the Chinese or Russian's would.

Just tried to vote twice and it didn't allow it to register. This skews the result as it was the computer that registered the vote so anyone else using this machine is automatically blocked from voting. This means anyone using internet cafe PC's cannot vote if someone before has done so on that particular PC.

I too disbelieve the results but maybe much of the world is conned by the media portrayal of the candidates.

If the world was able to vote - surely the world should be able to put up candidates?

Mr Lee and Mr Wu from China - about 400 million votes each

Mr Krishnan and Mr Patel from India - almost 500 million votes each

Mr Mohammed Siddique from the Arab States - another half billion

No one else would get a look-in.
