Second Wife

Featured Replies

A FAN of online virtual reality game Second Life is being divorced as a love cheat — after his wife caught his cyber character having sex with a woman stranger's.

David Pollard's shocked missus walked out on him in tears over the fling between his randy computer "self" and the other player's busty two-dimensional hooker.

Last night she accused the 40-year-old of being so besotted in real life that he had asked her love rival's creator — whom he has never seen — to become his second WIFE.

Betrayal

Heartbroken Amy, 28, who wed him after they met in a chatroom five years ago, fumed after filing for divorce: "It's the ultimate betrayal.

var RStag = "";try{RStag = segQS;}catch(e){RStag = "";}document.write('');"The solicitor wasn't at all surprised — she said it was her second divorce case involving Second Life that week."

About 15million fans play the game in which they create online alter egos who live full lives, including having jobs, relationships and children.

Amy's divorce cites the fictional flings as "unreasonable behaviour".

She told how she and 20st David — who is jobless — met in a Yahoo chatroom in May 2003.

After six months of emails and phone calls she quit London and moved into his flat in Newquay, Cornwall.

They would both play Second Life — and in the game their humble register office wedding in July 2005 was turned into a Beckham-style extravaganza.

But before long, Amy — who named her character Laura Skye — grew to fear that her husband's, called David Barmy, was up to no good.

She said: "He never did anything in real life.

"But I had my suspicions about what he was doing in Second Life."

She caught the character having sex with the hooker in February — and hired an online DETECTIVE to investigate.

Amy said: "I went mad — I was so hurt. It's cheating as far as I'm concerned. We made up after he promised never to cheat on me again.

"But two months later I caught him cuddling a woman on a sofa in the game.

"I ended up going off to his mum and dad's in floods of tears. He confessed he'd been talking to this woman player in America — then said our marriage was over."

The couple have already "divorced" in Second Life.

Amy, who has now found a new fella via the game World Of Warcraft, claimed David and the woman in the US had agreed to wed.

He insisted: "I don't think I was really doing anything wrong."

David's online self has now hooked up with a NEW avatar — named Modesty McDonnell.

NOW FOR HIS REAL PICTURES and MADE UP PICTURES :o

Some people are in dire need of a reality check and should spend more time looking in the mirror than at a monitor.

You're taking the piss..... thats actually them and their avatars???!!!!!

I feel laughter and revulsion at the same time....

I imagine its because woman value emotional investment in a relationship. So for his wife, she viewed it as cheating because he was spending all his time and being verbally caring and sensual with another woman rather than her, albeit online. I guess the guy just loved the fantasy of being with a girl (meaning how the character looks, not how she may have looked in real life) he probably couldnt have in real life. Plus, as no sex was involved, he probably got addicted to having his ego stroked and didnt see it as being unfaithful to his wife. (..and even if not actually unfaithful, i do think it was unfair). (Think of it as the online equivalent of Pattaya maybe, except from the comfort of your own home. "Handsum man". - and works the other way too of course, not just picking on men here!)

Also, quite a lot of relationships breakdown from one partner being a game addict. So I imagine if a partner is addicted to a game AND flirting/falling for someone online can be intolerable for most people.

Regardless of being attached or single, when online, player beware!:

You know Taddy, i confess that about 5/6 year ago or so, i needed a reaIity check. I was going through a reaIIy bad time, so buried myseIf in one particuIar onIine game. Was the most internationaIIy propuIated free private server, rivaIIing the main p4p. Because I spent aII my free time there and on the forum, i got to be weII known and ended up being asked to be a Game Master. AIthough sounds siIIy, I Ioved it, and i needed it. I just couIdnt face what was going on around me. So, I did so much for the game and its pIayers I eventuaIIy ended up being one of the two head Game Masters, with fuII controI of the forum and remote server access. Having peopIe from aII over the worId caIIing out my nik onIine, and aII the fun and drama that I had at the time, was very addictive. Not too heaIthy though, and not something i wouId ever want to do again. I reaIised after (actuaIIy, no, i wont say how Iong, because im embarressed at how much time i dedicated.), that I needed to quit for the sake of so much. But it was a high a Iot of the time, and as it couId be accessed in privacy at any time, day or night, I can see why its easy to get sucked into a virtuaI worId.

eek, thank heaven you're here with us now.

The only computer game I play is Free Cell. I Have never played, nor desire to play, on line games. Sometimes I think I am missing out on something in life, then I read things like this and realise that by the grace of God I have a life.

..yeh, because its so much more sane and healthy in Bedlam. .......right? :D:o

and realise that by the grace of God I have a life.

On the Starship Enterprise......under Captain Kirk.

Starrrrrr Trekkin'.............across the universe.

Boldly going forward.......'cause we can't find reverse !

oh heck, talking about Star Trek, what do you think of trekkies? Make me laugh so much! (and if it makes people happy, go for it!). I mean the ones that take it so far as to learn Klingon (and be really proud of the fact!).

Was sent this vid years ago..still cracks me up (ok, its a Star Wars Convention, not Star Trek, but same principle. :o ): http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=2fa_1180156799
