Surin To Viantiene?

Featured Replies

Well I just popped into the bus station to buy a ticket for a bus from Surin to Udon Thani, only to find out I can only get to Kohn Kean by bus from Surin!

Anyone have any other ideas? I need to leave Suring Monday morning and cross the Laos border on the same day.

Cheers.

If you are only going to Laos for your visa why not go Mukdahan to Savanakhet which is much cloeser to Surin?

I need to get a double entry tourist visa and I am not sure they are issuing them in Savanaket, I know that there should be no problem getting one in Vientaine though.

If you could buy a ticket to Udon Thani the bus would stop in Kohn Kean anyway.

They probably just don't ticket you all they way to Udon as you proabably need to switch buses and buy another ticket for the Kohn Kean to Udon Thani route.

I'm sure the buses between Kohn Kean and Udon Thani run nearly hourly.

I went by Bus to Korat and Train to Udon Thani in the end. And on the way back I used the bus for both parts, worked out exactly the same in traveling time.

Hi. ive been scouring the net for days trying to find this out. how long will it actually take to get from udon thani to a border close to siem reap over land? or is it better and doesn't take to long going south in laos and crossing directly into cambodia then to siem reap?

My girlfriend and I are traveling through Thailand, Laos and Cambodia in feb, and are stuck on one leg of our trip. We are trying to get from Vientiane to Siem Reap but we don't have the luxury of time or money. So we are wondering what is the quickest way that isn't too expensive. Bus? Or fly from one border to the other inside Thailand?

I think flights into Siem Reap airport (that come from Thailand) are only from BKK. I live in Surin and the 3 1/2 hour drive by taxi to SR costs about 2000b now from Kap Cheong border. A 'H@llraising' drive but its all worthwhile for the chance to see Ankor Wat. Highly recommended.
