Driving A Scooter

Featured Replies

Hi, thinking of getting a scooter or bike, however as i have pretty much no scooter or bike experience, only 18 years driving a car, i was wondering how easy/difficult it is to get a license for a scooter.

the ones with no gears, i have seen them around zippy in and out etc, i think Honda do one called the "wave", anyhow, can someone point me in the right direction etc to wahts required in getting myself fixed up and whats it would take etc

i have a NON o visa and have an address etc, i just need the relevant info,

how easy is it to buy a bike and what documentation is required etc, ie do i register it etc,

i have been offered a honda wave from a local thai, but i need to register????

i cant say i am even sure if that bike is actually one of those twist and go etc (no gears)

any tax, MOT insurance etc required (which i am sure there is)

i know these questions may seem a bit lame, but walking around the locals markets, 7-11`s is starting to get a bit tedious, when i could just jump on a scooter

i have my driving license with me, but i dont have an international one, i have read about having the test in thai etc for getting a license for car, but i struggled to google info about getting a license that would allow me to ride a bike even if a twist and go etc aka scooter

many thanks for the help

The topic is discussed in detail at the top of the threads.

If I'd never ridden a bike before I would be happier buying a new bike which I knew worked exactly as it should. I would then make sure sure I had somewhere quiet to practice first. Remember, you didn't get in a car on your own the first time and drive safely. Passing your test, which I beleiev you will have to do, is not a problem once you are competant. Personally I would recommend one of the automatics as a first bike
