November 29, 200817 yr I am currently in Tokyo, trying to get to BKK. I was able to book flights from here to Singapore to Phuket, arriving in Phuket at 5:10 PM on Dec 2. What is the best way to get from Phuket at that time to Bangkok? Bus to Surat Thani then overnight sleeper to BKK? Boat from Phuket to BKK? Bus from Phuket to Bangkok? I'm 62 and don't fancy a 14 hour bus trip. Any suggestions?
November 29, 200817 yr Taxi from Phuket to Bangkok......... Even if the airport is "cleared" until the 2nd it will take a few days for getting back to normal there. Sorry, Gerd
November 29, 200817 yr By bus, 600 - 900 baht. There is a counter for the bus company at the airport and selling bus tickets. i'm not sure on the actual timetable for avaiolble buses.. Alternatively, I have a rusty old bicycle that you can borrow, and which will enable you to reach BKK before the airports reopen... Simon

December 1, 200817 yr I am also thinking of taking a flight to Phuket, and then by land transport to Bangkok. Is there any taxi service for Phuket to Bangkok? How much is the cost? Because i'm on a business trip, so i'm a bit concern about time, so taking bus is not a good option for me. Please....let me know some contacts for taxi service from Phuket to Bangkok. Thank you!!
December 1, 200817 yr From the Phuketgazette http://www.phuketgazette.net/dailynews/ind...6&display=1 "AOT has arranged a special 800-baht bus service from Phuket airport to Bangkok and Chonburi to help people get off the island."

Now that is a good post. Thanks for the very useful information. How about for getting from BKK or from Pattaya to Phuket to fly out? Are they running the bus in the other direction? But based on the flight capacity, it doesn't look like Phuket will be great for getting out of town. Thanks
December 3, 200817 yr Travel agencies might be able to sell tickets for an overnight bus which leaves Phuket around 3PM and arrives at the southern bus terminal in Bangkok at around 6AM the next morning. Cost should be around 900 Baht, dinner is included.
