I have been following this pretty closely but does anyone else think that the Court's decision on December 2nd will have an effect? My mother said that it will and that the airport will be cleared of PAD before the King's birthday but I wonder what others think. Obviously if the court decide that the party is illegal and force Somchai to step down, the PAD will declare a "victory" (and supposedly leave the airport?) but what stops the pro-government red shirts from taking over the airport just like the PAD did. We obviously saw how easily it is to just march to the airport and take it over right?

Many obstacles to be cleared before the airport reopens.

1. No guarantee of a decision by the courts on 2 December. Could take a further week.

2. No guarantee that the 'reds' will accept a decision to dissolve PPP, without further problems.

3. No guarantee that the dissolution of the PPP or resignation of Somchai Wongsawat will lead to the PAD releasing their grip on power. Yes, they are the group with power at the present time!

Add to that the uncertainty over how long it will take for the airport to reopen after the PAD relinquish control of the airport and you are probably looking at reopening date of 12 December at the earliest. Emirates have cancelled all scheduled flights to/from Bangkok until at least 12 December.
