Hello, I have been searching around many sites for math teaching jobs but have not had much luck... Does anyone here know of any vacancies or possible openings in the near future? Thanks for your time!

Of course, you should register at www.ajarn.com also, with a full resume, and keep it current. Too bad there is no filter on it for math, science, IT, English lit, etc., subject majors. I do not keep my resume current, and still get emails from agencies.

Of course this is a bad time of year. International schools started in August and had contracts signed long before that. Thai schools are well into second semester. There are agencies that specialize in subjects like math and science in BKK - maybe some poster can send you info on that, here or by PM (private message). Things should be far better than in the remote province where I was the only native (English) teacher of maths. At least you have a subject area that is in specific demand

Yes, I registered and posted my resume there about a month or 2 ago but have got nothing so far...although last week when I checked it said my resume was not "Active" and so I had to reactivate it... Anyone else had this problem?

Yes, you have to reactivate it every five or so days. You may have missed some contacts.

Oh dam_n! That is weird they make you reactivate it... and every 5 days! Maybe every month or so..but 5 days is crazy!
I agree. We should suggest Bangkok Phil to lengthen it to at least two weeks.

Hi Peace Blondie..

How do you tell the good agencies from the fly-by-nighters? I'm interested in teaching (science) and hadn't thought about using an agency in BKK.

Thanks

I am not in BKK, but I suppose you could call the better name agencies and ask to speak to the DOS or manager. Tell them you are well qualified as a small-class or individual tutor in science, math, IELTS, etc. There cannot be many 'agencies' or language centres doing much of that.

I wrote to Bangkok Phil, who promptly replied that five days is fine, and few have complained. It only takes two minutes (obviously his connections are faster than mine), and if you are in the market, you should be diligent. I agree.
