Newbie With Introductions

Hello to all,

New to this site but not to Thailand. I'm retired military (US) married to Thai national for the past 18 years here in the states. I've visited Thailand with the wife three times. Here family lives in Kut Chap just west of Udon. She is returning this month to visit her dad who has become ill and may not live much longer. We were scheduled to travel together next year anyway but this changed things. I still may return with her next year but travel gets expensive. Our plans are to retire and live both between the US and Thailand sometime in the next 10 years. On my last visit to the Udon area it looked like they were building some up scale housing. Is this still going on? We have a place to live in Kut Chap however, there isn't anything there...... Well maybe over the next few trips we can pick an area out.
