I will say this about it not a really a bike week guy as of now there are two that I would repeat Cahing Mai and Udon.

I will parked at home or a while so if you want me to gather hotel information and I can get some sort of idea how many people are planning on coming I will see if I can search out some good deals based on the number of rooms.

But I went two years ago at the last one and it was great. Had Caribou performing they put on a great show. Lastt time we did a ride over the mountian between here and Sri Chaing Mai. had lunch in Nong Khai. Maybe 600 bikes. Hey worth the trip.

Easy to get here once yuo get out of Bangkok and onto to two, how to get out of Bangkok I don't have a clue. If yuo decide to come. Me or someone from the ride list here can meet you adn get you where you need to go. Just let me know. By the way we have nothing to do with the event. If I hear of someone coming from Bangkok I will let you know.I'm sure the Harley Ditributor from Bangkok will come maybe yuo can hook up with them. They have a authorized dealer her in town. Seem to make all the major events. I don't think they will miss this one. The Nagas may or may not attend haven;t heard from them yet. Good group of guys. I think they are based in Chon Buri, they have a web site.

Cool Dudes! You feel like blasting to Udon Thani in a day or making it a two day trip so we can hit some of the twisties around Khao Yai and overnight in Pak Chong or Khorat or perhaps Khon Kaen? (Isaan girls rock!) I bet even Trent can get lucky there Bangkok to Udon Thani is a shorter distance than BKK-CM, but I think the roads might be slower. Not sure as I'v never been past Khorat... This route will take us through Khao Yai National Park which is always a great ride and it saves us from the unpleasant ride out of Bangkok to the north on Phahon Yothin. It adds little to the total distance, but it would be a much more pleasant ride on smaller roads with little traffic and nice scenery.

Actually, if we just do highways at our 'usual' pace we can get from BKK to KK in about 4-5 hours. I don't know about twisties between KK and Udon Thani. I thought that area, the "Khorat Plateau" was pretty flat, but if you know of some good roads that would be awesome! My vote is to avoid the highways as much as possible and go via Khao Yai National Park, but I'm easy and will go along with whatever the majority wants to do.

either way both are fine with me. Alot of it depends on the size of the group. Not everyone know it way thru Khao Yai. With a large group will need to stop from time to time to allow to regroup.

Actually it no big deal. Just worry that Trent will get lost in the jungle with the monkeys.

We have plenty of time to plan a route. Let see what the majority vote for.

Update Udon Bike Week:

The dates are Feruary 6th and 7 th, not much going on the 6th an evening meeting at a local resturant.

The ride will be from Nam Prajek Park to Nong Han then Ban Chaing and back to Udon on the 7th. The ride meet is at 0700 leave at 0830 ( Thai Time) 0830 should be fine, The party is that evening.

Everything is still in Thai, it was like pulling teeth to get this info so the best I could do.

Rates are 320 to 450. ( sorry no discount couldn't ask at those prices) Only down side Thai hard beds, western bathrooms and TV with six channels, in english, aircon but I doubt you will need it pretty cold here in the evenings now.

Directions from Khon Kean. right on ring road, first block after Lotus turn left about one block on the left. (Small Soi but the closet place).

Left from the hotel go to T intsection right turn to red light, make a left you will see the entrance Nam Prajek Park.

Reckon on getting most of the highway outta of the way. Thus my take is blast to Khon Kaen at mach 1 speed . Could spend the night in KK, watch Trent get raped . And then take the long twisty bits to Udon Thani hit bike week on arrival eat and drink everything. Dunno for the next day thou. Trent probably still be in KK.

Actually, if we just do highways at our 'usual' pace we can get from BKK to KK in about 4-5 hours. I don't know about twisties between KK and Udon Thani. hey all,

travelmate and i will be joined by a VFR800. we all have the Friday off so we'll probably head off at 8am (or so).

we'll be picking up our friend at a gas station just passed the Air Force base U-turn bridge at don muang. i don't know if anyone else has organized a start point or time from BKK but we're open to options.

as far as the route goes....well.....playing it by ear has always worked well i do know that we're booked into a hotel in udon for friday night

so...who's in?

Placed my order today for a new Kawasaki ER-6n and will pick it up on the 28th.

I've been on holiday so long my brain has turned to mush! Am I correct that the Udon Thani Bike Week is on February 6th-7th?

Looking forward to it! Please let me know the planned route if you've agreed on one yet- sounds like you guys want to ride straight north past Don Muang? If we go that way it's pretty much Highway 1 and then Highway 2 most of the way I think... Ok in a car, not much fun on a bike.

I suggested this route through Khao Yai National Park before. It only adds ~50km to the total distance and should be a lot more fun, so please let me know what you think:
