It seems as if each Bangkok Government spends it's time and money promoting Chiang Mai. Chiang Rai needs economic development in order to have jobs for young graduates. They seem to go to Bangkok as quick as they graduate as farming is not an alternative for them.

Chiang Rai has as much to offer tourist and other economic development as does Chiang Rai. I know that many farangs do not like the idea of their private domain being integrated with development and housing but it seems that the province is large enough to satisfy the needs of both.

Hill tribe people have the right to go to school but not a work permit to develop their skills. The OTOP program does not do very much for sustainable development. Small technology based manufacturing operations could be accomplished easy in Chiang Rai.

Tourism could be developed and promoted by the government and would add a lot of jobs for young and older people. This would help retain the young in the province.
