Need advice regarding visa run

Featured Replies

My visa expires at the end of this month, but I do not have time to leave the country to get a new visa.  I was planning to make a trip to the Cambodian border so I could get another 30 days on entry.  Should I got to the Poipet or Koh Kong border?  I saw in an article that the Thai immigration at the Koh Kong border will give you a 30 day visa.  Is this true?
I have never been to Koh Kang, but I have done the Poi Pet run. Dismal place, but it will get the job done and have you back in Bangkok the same day
Have been to Poipet several times last few months for visa. Go to Mochit bus station, street level, get bus ticket to Aranya Prathet, booths on RHS & have AP in English. No# 1 bus about 165 baht each way, takes 4to 5 hours to get there. Leave every half hour I think. At AP get bike or tuk tuk or bus to border, about 6kms, cost for bike 40 baht, tuktuk50 baht. Heaps of touts at border offering to "assist" but not necessary.  Follow people to Thai immigration exit on LHS, go inside , then walk ahead & on RHS see Cambodia Visa & SARS station. Must fill in SARS form & visa form. COst of visa 1000baht, wont take the $US 20 it should be.Need one photo for this. Take to visa window tho a tout here will hit u up for a tip, up to u. When u get visa head up past casino to Cambodia entry on RHS for stamp in. If u are leaving same day /immediately for BKK it will cost u 100 baht here. If u decide to stay overnight u dont pay this. After u have stamp the cambo exit is on the opposite side of the road & they too may ask for a 100 baht, tell them u just paid to the 'In" guys. Then back to Thai entry on the LHS after the bridge going back. Whole exercise can be done within an hour. Watch for pickpockets here as have had hand in my pocket in this no mans land. Have a good trip. (An 8.30 departure from Mochit will have u back there by 7.30pm)
