I've recently bought a Hasselblad 500 EL/M which is powered by re-chargeable batteries. Unfortunately having bought the unit from the USA it came with a 115v charger. As we're 220v here in LOS any ideas what I can do?

I'm not much of a "techie" so don't laugh too much.

Much appreciate your help

A couple of possibilities. You can buy a 220 to 110 step down transformer, just need a small one of a few watts. 2nd, is if the batteries are standard such as A or AA, etc. then you can just buy a battery charger here for it for a thousand baht or so.

Just looked up regarding the batteries.

"As mentioned above, the NiCad batteries used on the EL were proprietary and are now hard to obtain. It's much better to get a battery replacement kit so that you can use 9V alkaline or 6V lithium batteries instead. These are widely available on the internet or ebay"

"Tywais" - thanks for your input. I've actually got the external plug in battery "thingy" as a back-up but it's a lot more convenient to use the inbuilt Ni-cads.

When you say "just need a small one of a few watts" what does this mean?

Conversely I've just seen this on Ebay - do you think this will serve my purposes?

I believe the Ni-cads are ok as I've actually had the camera about 6 months (it came charged) and I've been using it extensively up to battery exhaustion

Appreciate your help

Pity the charger on the right does not have a standard plug......:o

Hey up. I just looked that the photo. The charger brick on the right

is universal 100-240V, so just plug it in and away you go.

Howdy Vulcan:

i can offer you a new transformer for 2 110 Volts outlets and a total of 500 Watts. Never used it. It is quite heavy, several kilos.

Look at the attached photo. Source: www.pollin.de with the order # 350 111

Weight: several kilos, 162 x 104 x 92 mm

Asking 600 shipped with my warranty for 3 months (never used it). Alternatively, come for a quick shooting of a few 120 roll films I supply and it's yours for free.
