Here is a pic of the blue ceramic wax I use for my chain.

Made by Putoline.

I also bought a smashing Simpson jacket from Mityon Pattaya but after a week the zip broke. Arhhh!

I took it back last night and even though there was a sign on the counter saying 'NO REFUND OR EXCHANGE' they changed it for an Alpine Star jacket which was roughly the same price (5000 baht).

The new jaket has metal zips.

I also bought the green reflective wheel tape today (500baht) (along with new chain wax) but ran out of time to get it done. Will go back when I have time.

Nice weather for ducks at the mo eh?

Chain Wax marketing blurb:

Revolutionary ceramic wax formula suitable for O-Ring and Non O-Ring Chains - Racing and Competition. Non-Fling Formula! Tech Chain ceramic chain wax spray has been chemically engineerd to represent the very best in chain preparation and maintenance. Tech Chain utilises a totally unique ceramic wax formulation, which combined with a sophisticated selection of additives including PTFE, provides truly outstanding protection for your chain in all operating conditions. Clean and easy to use. Lubricates/supreme non-fling/water- and dirt repellent. Composition: Synthetic 500ml Aerosol Can with applicator nozzle.

So it's supposed to be the bestest and greatest. It's supposed to be dirt resistant but here is where I don't really know what to make of it. I had this on my chain in the beginning, and after riding the mud trail to our house for a week it looked very much like there was a lot of dirt on the chain. Maybe not inside, but how should I know, all I know is the chain was dirt-colored.

With normal chain oil, I'll just douse the chain when that happens (maybe clean it first) and all is well. The chain wax is supposed to last longer but if it does, it's not visible. Or maybe they didn't put enough on my chain to start out with?

It's a tricky one, I like to use it because on my bikes in the past I was sick and tired of cleaning the surrounding area because 'normal' oil would not stay on.

This stuff really doean't fling off, although there is no way of knowing it does a good job of lubricating the rings in the chain. (That's why I clean and re lube every week or so.

I'm off out now before the heavens open again.

Cyer.

^ Oh dear... I hope you're not going to bolt one of those monstrosities to your ER6! :D:):D

One good option if money is tight is to have the stock can gutted and re-installed. K-Speed in Bangkok can do that for you for a few thousand Baht- they open the can, remove the heavy massive baffles, and make it into a glass pack muffler. Pretty cool!

Ride On!

Well, I heard the K-Speed ER6n with their glass pack muffler and it really wasn't very loud- all depends on what diameter internal pipe you use. KSpeedER6n1.jpg

I'm guessing they used a 1" - 1.5" pipe.

GlassPackInternals.jpg

I believe the TWO BROS uses a 2" diameter internal pipe which is why it's so loud.

Back to MotoGP! What happened to Lorenzo?! Man the 250cc was amazing! Video decision for 2nd place and an amazing B-day ride for Hiroshi Aoyama on his Honda. WOOT! :)

Hi Tony,

Had a couple of (very) near misses recently, a friends family member was killed last week on a motorbike (ironically she only went out to buy a lottery ticket), and the awful news about Siinthai and the picture of his kids over at gt rider made me realise that where I am in my life right now, riding a motorbike is an unnecessary and avoidable risk. I also have two kids, and that picture just broke my heart.

Cheers

Hi INTJ, as sad as it is for all concerned the rest of us just have to continue on with what we do.

Five weeks ago my best mate was found dead in bed. Under 30 and appeared healthy. Even the coroner couldn't give a cause of death. I've been supporting his parents with anything I can do to help but they are gutted. Maybe you feel as I do, kinda helpless and drained from the experience.

I've been through it several times with family and friend's and it never gets any easier.

I love that headlight conversion, where (for the future) can I get my hands on it?

Arh right, I understand your thinking.

I friend of mine on Pattaya beach road was telling me a similar story about a man who dead on his er6n. He was the manager of a large hospital here.

It is hard and life is sometimes tough.

Best regards.

Blimely!

I am a hypochondriac at the mo and I've just hit 40!

My thoughts are with your friend and his family at this time.

K-Speed sell the projector lights and the bracket for them.. I actually have a suspicion they are off the sachs madass.

I was / am considering using that light fairing combo on my streetfighter but found a copy z1000 style that I also think would look hot too.

It is not about the bike - the ER6N is actually the smallest of the 5 bikes I've owned over the last 10 years and is a great bike. The biggest problems is my inability to ride in a safe, responsible (slow) manner. I just can't stop pushing the limits, and the pragmatist in me tells me that it can only end in disaster. Believe me, I have tried to change, but the fun in motorcycling to me is riding hard, so I've decided to give up bikes, a decision I made before the Siinthai tragedy.

Cheers

I'm not a big fan of naked bikes but I can really see the appeal of the er6n, having said that - only a mother could love that headlight :-)

I was looking at the z1000 thread and thinking that putting a similar looking headlight on the er6n would make be a massive improvement to the style of the bike. Really tranform it from an ugly duckling into a good looking/aggressive looking bike. I guess the z1000 front light doesn't fit or everyone would have done it already?!?

The K-Speed pictured above is a massive improvement but the z1000 light would look even better.

Terrible tragic news about Simon's unexpected and tragic death. I've also lost friends to motorcycle accidents and it does give one pause. But then again, they died doing something they love- when our number is up it's up and there are worse ways to go. Life is dangerous but we can't live our lives in fear. I understand and respect your decision to stop riding, but hope that with time you'll get back in the saddle again. Happy Trails! Tony

Projector style headlights like the one on the K-Speed ER6n are pretty common in Bangkok-

KSpeedER6n.jpg

In addition to K-Speed I've seen this type of light at Stadium and Dirtshop and at some of the little bike shops around Saphan Kwai. Really popular mod with the KSR crowd. I'm not quite sure I like it on the ER6n...
