If you are coming back in via Poi-Pet you are going to have to apply for a tourist visa from the Thai Embassy in Phom Phen. If however you were to fly back in to Bangkok and your stay in Thailand was 15 days or less you could apply for a visa upon arrival as outlined above. There is another option and that is..........you said you are arriving on a buisness visa (Non Imm) so you will get 90 days stay in Thailand when you first arrive, you could apply for a re-entry permit this would enable you to leave Thailand and re-enter (via Poi-Pet if you wish) to finish the rest of your original 90 day stay on your buisness visa.........it just depends on what sort of schedule you have......i.e you could stay in Thailand for 30 days apply for a re-entry permit then go to Cambodia for 30 days then re-enter for a final 30 days stay using the re-entry permit. Hope that all makes sense to you.

...................or you could apply for a Non Immigrant B multiple entry visa before leaving home, that would also solve all your problems.

Thanks for the info.

But I don't have time for another visa before I go (already have a business visa)

SO my problem is I will have to get another visa when I am in Thailand.

Can I get a visa on arrival and use for the second entry, or keep my business visa for the second entry?

Thanks,

You do not give any time frame here.

Your intitial entry onto Thailand will allow you to stay 90 days.

If you plan to go to Siam Reap and return within the 90 days, you can get a re-entry permit allowing you to continue the original 90 day period.

OK the details:

current visa: non-immigrant B visa, single entry.

will arrive on 2 Jan to Bangkok, then go to Siem Reap (land transport) on 9 Jan.

return to Thailand at Poipet (land transport) on 13 Jan.

Should leave Bangkok for China no later than 15 Jan.

Need another visa, or can get another re-entry stamp without second visa at Cambodia border?

many thanks :D

Get a re-entry permit from Immigration in Bangkok at Suan Plau (far left side of main hall) during the week that you are here. Cost is 1,000 baht and should take less than 2 hours time if you arrive in the morning. You will need one 4x6cm photograph.

Not wishing to confuse the issue but what about if he does this... lands at Bangkok Airport and applies for a 15 day on arrival visa then go to Cambodia and use the buisness visa on the way back in at Poi-Pet........i.e defer the use of the buisness visa. It would save him a trip to Suan Plau while he is in Bangkok. This link is to Immigration 3 webboard and a question i asked in November appears it would be ok. http://www.imm3.police.go.th/webboard/view.php?No=2319 any thoughts?

This is not like a visa free entry as he would first have to queue at the 15 day visa desk and they may or may not be in the mood to issue such a visa on top of the visa he has in his passport. I would not try it myself.

I thought thats what you might say............but if he gets knocked back he could then revert to Plan B.......Suan Plau. I was just thinking about saving him a bit of time in Bangkok.

No one likes me saying this, but everyone I know that has asked Immigration on arrival not to activate their current Visa has been successful, so IMO worth a try and it will save you a couple of Quid. If that doesn't work then go for the re-entry!

Maybe that is because that is not what the rules say. A mod should realise that.

rumor says somewhere that Thai immigration only allow Chinese passport holders to exit through airplane, not land transport? Is that true? we need to travel through border to Cambodia.

Second question: for re-entry request, do we have to present at the office personally, or can ask friends / colleagues to handle the application?

Thanks,

There are plenty of Chinese come into Thailand overland on coach tours and go to Cambodia (for the casinos) and back into Thailand............so i would say it is an unfounded rumour. Regarding the re-entry request you will need to go yourself to apply for it. If you have a look at my first post there are a few land border checkpoints which issue on arrival visas to Chinese citizens so i wouldnt worry about it.

Can we get re-entry visa at Aranya before clearing custom to Poipet?

:o

Just called visa office in Beijing and they said no re-entry permit possible in Thailand! Outrageous! I don't believe this and will try as what you guys suggested.
