Does anyone know what the minimum amount of time you should give yourself to get from international arrival to domestic departure is? Domestic flying to Kho Samui.

well in the Don Muang day's it used to be right next door but with the new Swampy it's miles away,...and hopefully someone with up to date knowledge will confirm this, but you have to consider traffic now too but a good 3 hours is my rough guess,....

Looks to me like ALL Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways flights to Koh Samui depart out of Swampyboom, this no need to change airports. Just need to process through Immigration & Customs, go up a floor or two, walk to the east end of the Departures area and check in for the domestic flight south.

....I live and learn...so ,.. :o they now do internal flights from swampy,.....oh good,...

Never be "sorry," just keep on a learning.... Or, alternatively, get out of Chaiyaphum more often?

BTW, there's also a number of domestic flights out of Don Muang, now designated as DMK, so need to check which airport your airline, or flight, is using. For example, TG flies out of both domestically.

:o

Guess others have already answered this but....

1. If you are sure your flight leaves from the same airport...it shouldn't take more than a hour max. If there are no hangups.

2. Depending on when you land...and if you must go thru customs....it can take 45 minutes to clear immigration/customs. If you can just go thru transit without clearing immigration/customs, the time will be a lot shorter.

3. If your international flight allows you to check your baggage to your final destination (Kho Samui) it will make the time shorter. If not be preapred to go thru the "collect baggage shuffle". Plan additional time for that.

4. So really the answer is...I don't know. It depends on a lot of factors. To be safe...I'd say at least two hours. It is better to be early and wait for your scheduled flight than to not have enough time and have to wait for the next flight.

:D

P.S. A lot of travel agents reccomend a "fudge factor" of at least 3 hours between connecting flights as their standard.

Allow 3 hours for inbound delay etc.

If you can, check you bags thru to you final stop.

MOST LIKELY (TIT) you clear passport at stop thru just on the Int'l arrivals side near to the Thai Desk on level #2...

thats good because there is a moving sidewalk and every airline has check in desk accessable from the sidewalk! If you can chehckl your bags thru to Samui great if not you'll have to qu8e up thru passport and bag p/u and go to the BKK Air desk. If you can check thru you'll do passport as noted and check in at BKK air in that area. Is Samui and Int'l airport is the question here. Do they have customs?

Give you self 3 hours and reduce the stress. Welcome to SuwannaBoom and have a nice day!

Anybody go lounge info on BKK air... I'm a UA/TG traveler!

Well, did this January this year and the time between the flights was scheduled almost 2 hrs. Time enough to change the plane because my luggage was checked through to USM and i did my custom's clearing in USM too. But for sure, long way to walk and if you might have to pass the transfer counter you should be aware that you're luggage won't be cleared for the connecting flight until you're boarding pass will be issued. And think about the difference between the time of arrival and the time of departure many times covers some taxying, leaving the plane, change the gate and be on time when the other flight is boarding (approx. 30 mins before take of).

I have done this exact transfer a gazillion times to samui but all flights to bkk have landed either between 6.10to7.30am(etihad or emirates from uk) and immigration has been a nightmare then so i always do the speed run to immigration usually takes 45 to an hour 15 from getting off the plane to getting through customs so usually book the 10am flight. If i take a night flight from uk i usually land between 6.10 -6.40 am but immigration has always been light and i've got from the plane through immigration in less than an hour. this allows you to take the last 9pm flight to samui. bkk say you need to be there an hour before but in sept my plane was delayed and i got there 45 mins before departure but still got booked on. It's a gamble on whether your plane is delayed getting into bkk. if your confident and late just wave your onward bound flight details and jump the queue and be very polite and anxious at the same time you will get some words but sod it you will catch your connecting flight.
