Amari Rincome Hotel

Stayed there a couple years ago; like Singapore, can't find fault with it, but in the end, just plain sterile and boring. Preferred Porn Ping and the price was considerably lower -- the short walk to the NB was also a big + --- since you've probably already paid, just enjoy your time there. It's well worth checking it out for future comparisons.

I'm going back there next week, having stayed there many times over the years.

Lovely pool & garden area. Very good food in both the Lanna coffee shop & La Gritta (Italian).

It isn't the cheapest place to stay by any means, we Love :o it though.

You'll need a tuk tuk to get to the night mkt, but there is a mkt opposite the hotel frequented mainly by locals.

Good massage 5 min away at Wangcome/ Kalavek & good spa too, turn left out of hotel car park & it's on your left.

Many eating places around Nimmanhaemin & Huay Kaew roads.

Hope that's been of help.

It's a nice international style hotel although the rooms and interior are getting a little worn down - the Amari Rincome has been around for a while.

I think it is a fairly safe bet - Scottie is right about the many eateries available in Nimmanheimin Road. If you are mainly coming to CM for the Night Market, this is not the most ideal place (although they provide free transport by mini bus to and from the Night Market), but in other respects it is a good hotel.

I always thought of the Amari as a tired old lady. Plenty of class but definitely on her last wobbly legs. That new one down by the moat is about the same price but much nicer and they have a lot of neat little extras. Amora I think it's called now but it was a Rydges originally.

That's a fair description in many ways.

It's been overtaken by some of the newer hotels, but if you mean Rydges Tapae....that high rise should never have been built where it is.

Think that may be the one :o

The Amari and the Orchid, the two original upscale Chiang Mai hotels catering to westerners in Chiang Mai, are both getting a bit long in the tooth, but both offer some charm that is certainly lacking from Rydges. I was able to get a room at the Orchid last summer for only 1,200 B including a very nice breakfast. Apart from the distance to the night market if you are a first time visitor, both hotels have plenty of good eateries and shops within walking distance.
