Visiting Phuket 6 & 7 Jan 09 from North East Fly in Drive out - need recommendation for cheap clean place to stay. Have some business to do (not pleasure or holiday) - latest advert by TAT absolute waste of time.

Karon has been suggested ?? any names ??

You don't say where your business connection is located ? Cheapest accommodation would be in Phuket Town, but most of these places have no web presence. Karon is a beach location = more expensive. You should easily get a room for as cheap as 300 baht (fan only) in Phuket Town. Karon more like 600 baht, and maybe more in High Season, although all the talk is that many vacancies this high season. Try any of the late booking sites for Phuket... just google. URL links frowned upon on this forum.

Try Baantonsai, Nanai Road Phuket between BAHT 600 - 900. Rooms are basic but spotless!! Swimming pool is really good.
