Here a shot I took on News Year Eve from the bridge. A first time doing this. I read how to do it in a book that afternoon. Any suggestions what I could change for night photography. The camera was set for Bulb-open for about a second. Wide angle lens on about 28mm, Iso 200, WB on Tungsten (for the bridge lights).Canon d30.

nice in overall but there are some tips for next shooting.

try to reduce the f number, i guess you use around 5.6......f-11 is good for this shoot.

reduce the speed little bit to make it little bit darker.

Yes I agree with Sapi.

You chose F4, the maximum(?) but a smaller aperture would give better depth of field.

With the EOS 30D you should also try a faster ISO setting, 400 or even 800.

With these types of shots it helps to take a number of shots with varying settings to see

which gives the best results. The extra shots are only space on the memory card.

The beauty of digital is that all the settings are recorded with the image

so you can decide what it the optimum for your camera and lens the next time round.

Another tip is to not trust autofocus in these situations.

Select the hyperfocal distance. See here for an explanation.

Most lenses have marking to help you, based on the aperture you select.
