Buying Motorcycle Accessories From Ebay Stores

I've recently started to order items off the net because Bangkok motorcycle shops as we know are a complete rip-off. Paddock sells 500$US jackets for 40k Thai Baht! Strangely enough, their Sidi boots are roughly the same price as Ebay.  :D

My experiences.

I ordered 4 different purchases from various sellers. Of these, 3 were out of stock requiring an extra-long wait for delivery so one lost custom to a supplier with stock.

Podium Superbikes

The Pazzo levers were in stock and took only 5 business days to ship from the US to Bangkok. Excellent and fast service and beautiful levers so I returned to Podium for the Puig smoke windscreen.  Out of stock! Extra 2 week wait before shipping! Went elsewhere to Performancemoto.

Commonwealth Motorcycles

Ducati perforated leather jacket, size out of stock. Hard to find, so waited. Partly my fault as I placed order at wrong time (before Xmas holidays). Ordered 22 Dec 2008, USPS says item left their facility yesterday.

Other apparel, size out of stock, 2 week wait before shipping. Can't find items elsewhere that will ship to LOS.   :D Will wait.

Hope you guys have better luck.  :o

Bought an HJC crash helmet on Monday from ebay.uk ( saved 75 quid off the regular price ) It arrived at my Dad's place in UK this morning.. Just need to get it sent cheaply to Thailand of pick it up when I'm passing thru.. Cost for the helmet was less than 2000 baht.. so even if I spend another 2500 baht for postage I'm still ahead..

Most of the websites I visit usually state whether the item is in stock or not.. Guess not all of them do.. If I'm unsure I call them using Skype-out and check first..

Anyone any good ideas on how to get hold of a BMW Rally-2 (Pro) jacket size 52? New or used as long as condition is immaculate.

I have never bought anything over the net from outside Thailand, so if anyone can locate the above and offer some advice on how to get it here without paying silly import taxes etc, that would be very nice :-)

Thanks.

JR

Do you have a credt card? Or a debit card with a security number on the back? You can register for Paypal or pay directly with the card.

Then start using the Search button. Just a Google search turned up a shit-load of results on your jacket. Found 2 on Ebay. The taxes are hit and miss, just make sure it's sent USPS and not FedEx, UPS etc.

dam_n, negro! You want me to do ALL the work? :o

RusticCharm,

Since you seem to know it all :-) and I am indeed lazy, could you tell what the potential import duties would be for a 700USD purchase? And the shipping cost to Thailand with USPS? Would it be better to use a private address or a company address for delivery?

Thanks. Back to sleep now.

On Kneedraggers, Sidi Vertigo Corsa boots are about 400 Bt more expensive than Paddock. I can only assume that the website is offering this year's model while the Paddock is selling old stock.

ya i bought my sidis at paddock, couldn't find a better deal anywhere. besides i don't buy apparel online anymore, prefer to try it on :-)

Dude (sigh), it was a joke! :o And nowhere in my post did I refer to you as lazy. A little attitude adjustment needed here. Heck! I dunno why I bother sometimes.

Do a search you lazy fuc_ker!  :D

700USD, huh? Since when are blow-up dolls that expensive?  :D

Just kidding! (Funny how narky comments work both ways, isn't it?)

Potential import duties? Up to 30% I guess. Shipping costs depend on weight. Simply add the item you wish to buy into the website's 'Cart/Shopping basket' and go forward until it shows the shipping costs. You can usually chose between 'Normal' air delivery or the pricier 'Express'. You can always cancel the purchase later.

'Private address or a company address'? I haven't paid tax on items received at my private address so far but I've used my school address for a 600$US item by USPS which should arrive soon.

Hi

The Paddock

I was looking for a good crash lid and got a Shoei X11 from the Paddock for about 100pounds less than it sell for in the UK I think you need to compare online sites with prices here and then consider shipping and the possibility of paying duty which I find is hit and miss sometimes I pay sometimes I don't.

Cheers

Hi Again

I had the same thing when trying to order Dzus fasteners for my fairing from USA from Kurvy Girl they would not ship to Thailand I contacted them by e-mail and we came to an agreement the parts arrived within 10 days no duty. Anyone who has a sport bike wth many fairing screws Dzus are the best you can get the fairing off so much quicker for cleaning etc.

Regards

HH

My Ducati peforated leather jacket was delivered today. Had to pay Tax AND Duty on their value of the item of 12,000THB. It actually cost a lot more than that but even with the Customs duties (about 4,000), it was a hel_l of a lot cheaper than getting it through the dealers. I probably saved about 10k.

So even though I'm feeling I got butt-fuc_ked on this one, customs were kind enough to lubricate first.. :o

In future I'll get items delivered to my home address instead of the school. Will probably miss the postman but can always pick it up from the P.O. after work.

Wow, you are gonna need a little rubber donut for the 848 :D . I just ordered a cordura Duc jacket the other day, coming to the condo USPS. Hope it slips thru. I think it has a lot to do with how big the box is and whether there's a big company logo on the box. They got me on a $100 plastic hugger last month - 800 baht! Came in a big box. My brother is bringing a new KBC helmet with him next month, I figured they would flag that in the mail for sure.

I've been buying bike bits and pieces for 35 years and I have heard all the excuses! It's on the boat, the warehouse sent it to Perth by mistake, we ordered them in and when they arrived they where the wrong colour so we sent em back! It was the wrong model number, the part looked right but the tag was wrong!

So dealing with internet traders couldn't be any worse!

Pay by credit card and if they stuff up the order get the CC company to do a charge back.

Don't wish to take the jam out of your donut but the box in which my Duc jacket arrived was fairly big.

And had a huge 'Triumph' logo on it.  :o

Customs probably thought it was a box full of bras!

Some of them are trying. The main problem I can see is lack of stock. Once they have it in, it's usually plain sailing with just Thai customs to worry about. Edited by RusticCharm
