I still like my old NSR 150, its nice and comfortable and feels well balanced for me. It goes fast enough and accelerates like lightning.

BUT its old and its a 2 stroke and reliability is not its speciality nor is it a nice new Ninja, which i cannot afford.

Have any of you bike mechanics, modifiers, enthusiasts any thoughts or ideas on the viability of putting in another engine, say around 250cc. I feel there must be some bike mechanics/garages able to do it but have no idea where or even if 250 engines are available in Thailand.

I put a post about shoving a 500cc engine in an NSR a while back. 500 NSR conversion

I have thought about this before, but no one has ever followed up. I have (am selling) a Yamaha TZM and am also getting rid of the NSR because I am buying an FZR 400. But from looking at the engines, it appears that they are pretty much derivatives of Honda and Yamaha's two stroke dirtbike line (I think that is where they lifted their engines from). It has been a while since I looked into it, but I think the Yamaha two stroke dirt bike is the YZ which has a 250cc single piston, two stroke engine. The Honda I believe is the CR which also has a 250cc single piston, two stroke. I had been toying with the idea of buying the engines off of Ebay (easily avaiable because people crash dirt bikes all the time) and shoving that into a 150cc two stroke. A 250cc single cylinder two stroke would equal the power of a 500cc 4 stroke twin. From what I have seen of the engines, it looks like it is easily doable because the 150cc engines in the Honda appear to be based on the dirtbike motor. I never bothered because I am buying a 400cc bike which I am happy with.
