If it's a settlement visa then buy a one way ticket. I bought a one way for my Mrs. I bought it online in the UK. If you buy it in Thailand, buy it yourself directly from the airline.

I bought mine at the airport directly from the airline. We did this for convenience and ease. It depends what is most important - cost or getting the ticket quickly, but the answer really is to shop around and just go with the most cost effective option.
