February 14, 200917 yr It's been fairly quiet in here, I agree. Same in a number of the other subforums. Perhaps the mods have been on a banning spree?
February 14, 200917 yr Author Could you please elaborate Naam? what's there to elaborate? Bedlam used to be full with interesting topics and witty postings which i enjoyed to read. now it has become as attractive as the unshaven armpits of an 80year old woman
February 15, 200917 yr I made a similar comment a year or two back and was invited to improve the situation by contributing interesting topics and witty postings. Dare I suggest the same thing to you? I've noticed that your style of posting tends to be critical rather than contributive which tends to be counterproductive in forums.

I've noticed that your style of posting tends to be critical rather than contributive which tends to be counterproductive in forums. i admit that might apply to the usual BS postings or BS claims in "normal" postings when the know-it-alls cum having-no-<deleted>-idea try to bullshit those who seek advice. i don't think complaints are warranted as far as my contributions in technical or investment matters are concerned and where i spend most of my "TV time". now, what is it that you are suggesting?
February 15, 200917 yr Personally, I'm feeling that our hands are tied just as much in here, as they are in the open forum. Nuff said.
February 15, 200917 yr My apologies Doctor, I spend little time pondering the fields of technology and investment. Subsequently I've probably only seen the dark side of the Klingon force. You have a point about message board graveyards however and I wondered today whether we are watching the passing of the golden age of Thai expat forums. I've belonged to a couple of the more gynecologically obsessed ones in the past and an occasional foray into them, purely in the interests of research of course, reveals that they are not doing well at all. Others, which cover a wider range of topics, seem to be running out of ideas. You can only talk about the horrors of the Thai political system or the essential ingredients for Tom Yam for so long before it becomes repetitive and boring. So if your seeking a suggestion from me, come up with a few topics that are new, vibrant and original (outside the field of technology and investment of course) so us less creative Earthlings can wile away a few happy hours discussing them with you.

February 15, 200917 yr It's quite possible that the last few years of political unrest, economic uncertainty, and relative tourist unfriendliness have had their toll on the expat/retiree/tourist community to the extent that there isn't as much new blood as used to come in to keep things stirred up and interesting; while for the same reasons the attrition rates have increased.

How about a thread entitled 'How to make a million quid (or Euros if you wish - there isn't much difference) in six easy lessons'? I'm sure you'd have an avid readership
February 15, 200917 yr as my contributions in technical or investment matters are concerned and where i spend most of my "TV time". You could contribute a few interesting Investment/technical threads here, some of us don't get the time to hit all the forums. I would appreciate one or two threads of a diverse nature, as long as they don't degenerate into a flame fest. Moss

February 15, 200917 yr Has the separation of 'outside the box' reduced the input into Bedlam proper? I don't know, it's just a thought...
February 15, 200917 yr I know a few ex-TV folk who just got pi55ed off with all the rules/moderating. most have went off to TD, never to return.
February 16, 200917 yr It's quite possible that the last few years of political unrest, economic uncertainty, and relative tourist unfriendliness have had their toll on the expat/retiree/tourist community to the extent that there isn't as much new blood as used to come in to keep things stirred up and interesting; while for the same reasons the attrition rates have increased. I'm a relatively new arrival to Asia compared with some members, I've only lived here since 2001 and been an occasional visitor for maybe ten years before that, but I've never noticed Thailand any different to what it is now. Personally the problems you mention are part of the attraction here. I wake up one morning and look at the calender and realise that I've got three days to leave the country to get a visa stamp and then my visa craps out anyway so I've got to decide whether to move some of my dwindling cash into a Thai bank to apply for a retirement visa or head for a Western country to tell more lies to get a nonIm-B with a 50/50 chance that the PAD are going to shut the airport down again. I love all that shit and I'm convinced it keeps me young. Back in my former home town my ex-school mate is worrying about offending good old Charlie if he drops him from the team in Saturdays lawn bowls competition.

I'm sure you'd have an avid readership i could open a thread with that heading but unfortunately not lecture people in six easy lessons how to do it. i could however contribute an easy and simple solution to a question like "How Do I Make a Small Fortune?".

February 16, 200917 yr OK, I'll have a go at a fun topic for a thread. Don't blame me if it fizzles out though.....
February 16, 200917 yr Do what I do when my topics crash and burn, just assume that the others here lack the intellect to make a contribution to them.
