Yes, I also read that and recently they re-enacted the jump because people were sprouting off that it couldnt be done on a stock bike of that model.

I was actually making the comment to dave_boo because he started telling us about bud atkins, who was steve mcqueens stunt double....which is also what I read when I clicked on the link....I WOULDNT OF KNOWN ELSE WISE, Im not that good with names & I can't remember how long its been since ive seen that flick.
