Is Koh Tao Good Holiday Destination?

Featured Replies

I am going to koh tao next month but dont know if it is a good idea.. any one help me with koh tao :o

Its a great place for diving and generally relaxing. Nice atmosphere. I spent a week there and had a great time.

Coolcat Hi. I used to live and work on Tao and have spent a fair bit of time there. I have also visited most of Thailand a well. In answer to your question, " it all depends on why you are going there. If you are going there to dive or learn to dive then its one of the best and cheapest places to do it. If you are going there to just chill on a nice quiet beach then there are better cheaper places to do it. As I said consider why you are going to Tao and what you want from your time there.

To sum Tao up. If you are going there to dive or snorkel and want some good restaurants and some decent night life and bars as well it is ideal. Cancel the first 2 and thee are far better places to go :D

Hope thats given you an idea. If you want any more specific info feel free to PM me Cheers :o

So is it Excellent for just snorkelling as oppossed to diving?

I can't dive for medical reasons but I'm thinking of going for a snorkel break there.

Sure, Mango Bay can be quite nice.

Mango bay, Koh Nanguans Japanese garden, shark bay, shark island. Lots of nice snorkelling to be had around the island. Go to shark bay around 4-5pm and you stand a good chance of seeing reef sharks hunting around the bottom. :o

Don't know if it's still open?!?

But, years ago "Banana Rock" was my favorite hangout...

Nice snorkeling, just off the bar, especially after the "treats".
