Passport Renewal After Stopping Paying Child Support

Featured Replies

I am a Dutch citizen and paid 12 years for my 4 children. The youngest is now 18 years old. In Holland you have to continue paying child support after they are 18 if they are still studying. I stopped paying a few months ago. I didn’t see 2 children in the last 12 years and the other 2 stopped coming to visit after 5 years. I don’t even know if they are at school or in work. I have had no contact for 6 years with them. Now I have a problem with an organization for child support in Holland (LBIO). They want more money.

My ex-wife ran away with some one else and I was never bad to my children. I have been in Asia for 5 years now and I don’t have possessions or an income. I’m living off some savings which are in my girlfriend’s British bank My only possession is/was my small holiday house (with a mortgage) which they are going to sell and give the proceeds to my children and to me, if there is any left.. No problem for me although this was meant to be my funeral insurance.

My passport runs out in Dec-2012. So six months before I have to get a new one. As I stop paying child support can this be a problem for my passport renewal? Are there DUTCH people out here in the same situation?[information from other countries probably isn’t useful for my case] Thanks in advance.

Don't know about Dutch people but I know foir sure it's a problem for US citizens.

It all depends on whether your ex has made a complaint about the none payments, sounds like she migh have if the LBIO are after you.

Maybe ask for proof that your youngest is in full time study before you'll consider paying more?
