Wish I had the camera with me, this afternoon whilst stuck in traffic at the Sukhumvit/Klang traffic lights(which had just stopped working) I happened to spot a large billboard stating 'Welcome to Pattaya every day you can come'. I thought this hilarious as did everyone else I told of it. Double entendre?, genuine mistake or genuine statement!! TiT so who can say but I thought very funny. :o:D

Thai'glish.

There is a certain popular person who's image is oft seen. I saw a sticker on the back of a pickup stating " Long Like The ....."

Maybe they ran out of vs ?

The production runs of advertising posters can be good, when the person doing the copy is sure that they don't need any help in correcting their English spelling. Some Jomtiem Beach events recently had some gross errors.

just curious: does any of you actually speak THAI ?

or is it just the usual arrogance of some of the superior-feeling native-speaker-crowd ?

Out and about today and the place is inundated with banners welcoming people, by the mayor and other dignitaries, to be our guest to Pattaya city relax to extreme. Wonder if they realise the 'be our guest' usually implies the inviters will foot the bill?

I assume you Thai but it doesnt really matter. We are just having a laugh at a funny sign, just like you would have a laugh at my bad thai. I am sure I, unknowingly, say some outrageous things. My girlfriend looks at me and said do you know what you just asked for?

If we laughed in your face about it, then you have a point, but we are just reacting to funny signs, as I am sure you would and do, if you saw them in thai in another part of the world.

cheer up, we love it here but havent left our sense of humor home

heres one for you on a cambodian menu, under drinks it said "some pretty good wine by the glass" and then the price.
