Hi, anyone any experience renting a speedboat for the day from Rawai or Chalong? Whats a good price to pay?

Someone told me 5000/baht a day, read somewhere longtail was 2500/day.... Although some girl i know said she thinks her friend knows someone that would do speedboat for just 3k/day..... Not sure so thought id post here first...

Looking to go round islands around Phuket, Phi Phi, and maybe the Hong islands or other places in Krabi, over 2 days

Thanks

I used the same speedboat guy for years at 2500 per day if going close (coral island etc) he wanted a bit of a fuel tip back when fuel prices were real high to go over to racha but he normally gets a tip from me anyway. Hes said often not to tell the other boats that price as he would have problems for not 'toeing the line' on high prices.

Heading to Phi Phi via speedboat would add to the fuel costs by a lot at a guess.. Longtail to Phi Phi and krabi ?? Hope for calm seas !!!

Go to rawai and haggle a few times for a 1 day price without fuel surcharge.. I would be happy to have a price at 3k but expect them to start at nearer 5 for opening bids.

I paid 2500 for about 6 hours the 2 times i have went ( Longtail ) there are 4 or 5 of us usually, so its cheap as chips, and we usually gave him a pretty good tip at the end. I usually go to the guy who is across from Come in Bar, we just let the Girls haggle with him, saves us a bunch! Good luck.

We offer our new 26ft speedboat (not a longtail, 40kn max, 25kn cruise speed) for occasional rent on day-trips around Phuket and Phang-Nga bay islands, hongs, Phi Phi, Ko Racha etc...

Price ~20k/day including captain, petrol, soft drinks etc.

Ideal for 2-3 people, max 5 people. Overnight stays can be arranged on the islands (extra cost).

Pls PM for photos and further details.

the standard charter cost for a proper fibreglass speedboat from phuket to phi phi is about 25k. thats what most companies charge.

of course a longtail will cost you a lot less.

As I said used the same guy from Rawai beach over and over for day trips for years.. 2500 per day if locally.. Never asked the price for Phi Phi but would be floored if he charged anything close to that.

Like most things in life you get what you pay for! 25k is about right for a decent speedboat with captain etc. 2,500 baht is going to get a longtail at best. If you remember that each 200hp engine on the boat uses 1 litre of gas a minute, and most have at least 2, 2,500 baht is not going to get you far. Getting on a boat with just 1 engine to go out to sea is foolish. :o

chezzs. Pls confirm if you use a longtail (rather then quality fiberglass boat), or pls post any photo of the boat which you use for years. End of argument :o

Getting into any of tourist speedboats (together with another 10-20 people in the can and 20 boats arriving to Maya Bay same time) would cost at least 3-5k per pax.

I think OP wanted a private speedboat charter which is clearly different service, and quite better trip.

I have no photos but its the regular speedboats you see lined up in Rawai beach.. Can hold at a guess 10 - 12 passengers with a few up front.. Tho I have never gone with more than 6 or so.. 2 engines.. Catain and usually a boat boy (or 2) for casting off tieing up etc.. the usual setup... Not a long tail..
