How To Set Up New Tot Internet Connection Help!

Featured Replies

Hi I have just upgraded from the old TOT silver cyber package to a faster platinuim package TOT rang to say its active but how the heck do i re configure my modem or connectio, do i even have to? HELP!!!

Please explain in easy terms as i am not a PC expert

Cheers!!!

You shouldn't need to do anything if they haven't changed your user name/password or whatever. Does it seem to be working okay?

Open your router up

http://192.168.1.1

username / password for the router should be admin / tot

On the GMesh GM-301 router from TOT all the settings are on the first page after login, otherwise you will have to find them.

You have PPP Username and PPP Password. Change as appropiate.

From what I have read on other threads the change takes place sometime after 5pm on the day of request. If all goes well.

The change should be something@silvercyber TO something@platiniumcyber.

I just did that on a TOT modem and it was stupidly complicated - basically as ernest1966 said above, with the added twist that on this router I also had to find the "user mode" setting and set to "admin", then it showed a bunch more options, and finding the actual PPP settings was pretty hard too, I guess it was under a menu called wizard setup or something like that. Then you need to leave all the other things alone and just change the username....

Thanks guys, I managed to work out how to change the password on the router from silver to platinum but it wont connect to the internet, as soon as i change password back to silver it seems to work but at the old speed, does this mean TOT have not made the change or could it be something I am doing wrong? just did speed test getting 1472/413

Thanks

When I changed the service I lost the connection sometime after midnight and, as they had instructed, I used the TOT/Speedtouch CD and reinstalled the modem with the username/password (which hadn't changed). The connection was re-established with the higher speeds.

At the moment International connections seem pretty bad though.

Thanks for all the advice all working well now speed up to 2610/414 and i am only paying 590 baht a month a saving of 110- baht for almost twice the speed well worth it. TOT were also very helpfull in sorting out the problem.

If you have any problems just take you Router into TOT & ask them to configure it for you

Think that might fit into this thread:

Got my phone-line installed on tuesday and found my router DSL-ready this morning. Paying for TOTs 3MBit-Plan.

Did a quick test and go download speeds at around 120kb/s. Nothing to write home about, but okay. After 3 minutes, the router disconnected though, came back a minute later and since that time, I seem to be stuck on a 256/128-line (which is what the router tells me under Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 128 Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 256)

Havent received a call from TOT yet. Is that normal for day 1 or maybe something I can influence by the router settings?

EDIT: Just saw, this thread is 1 month old, not 1 day. Sorry :)

Last week got a visit from a TOT technician because of a problem with my modem.

He specifically discouraged me to change from my 1,000 baht GoldCyber (2Mbs) account to the 790 baht PlatinumCyber (4Mbs). He told me in confidence that those on my current package get much better bandwidth (internationally) than those on the higher rated lower priced packages.

Daveb, yes, you got the double speed for less money ... but that's for sure only for the Bangkok server.

I am in Bangkok, but have not yet converted to one of TOT's new packages because of comments on problems by some who did convert in Bangkok (and also because I am lazy).

TOT woke me up this morning, telling me I was ready to go.

So far so good. 2.2Mbit from Los Angeles, according to Speedtest.net (not allowed to post a link obviously - will that change with an increased post count?) with my 3Mbit plan.

Every evening my TOT line drops down to 1mb instead of the promised 6mb and Its impossible to watch videos. After midnight it goes back to almost normal speed again.

Not sure if I should try to upgrade .
