I'm in the market for a new Honda City. I have been to the dealers in Khon Kaen and get no movement (either on price or add-ons). I'm seriously thinking of heading to Bangkok tomorrow and taking whatever time required to come back with a car.

Is this a good idea? Is competition in Bangkok likely to result in a better deal? Any comments on dealers to go to or to avoid? I'd like to have some plan rather than just getting the dealer list from Honda-Thailand and going showroom to showroom.

Any input is appreciated.

If you are looking for a Honda I suggest that you go to the Auto Show being held at Bitec Exhibition Hall in Bangkok. We just ordered a new Jazz and although they didn't budge on the price, B 650,000, for the model we wanted, V AT (SRS), they did give us a lot of extras. Free insurance, car cover, window tint, undercoating, door plates, trunk liner and a couple others that my wife wasn't able to translate. We were told this offer would only be good until the end of the Auto show on 6 April. I dont know why the dealer in Khon Kaen wouldn't throw in some of these items. Over the years we have purchased 4 new Hondas (2 CRV's, Civic, City) and we always received a variety of goodies. Their are many Honda dealers at the Honda exhibit, mainly from the Bangkok area, but maybe from KK too.

Dont think you will have much luck driving off with a car as usually you must order as they dont seem to keep an inventory at the dealers. We were told it would be about two months for our Jazz.
