Urgent Mud Removal Underway in Post-Flood Chiang Rai
Floodwaters have receded from Chiang Rai, leaving layers of stubborn mud behind, reaching even rooftops in the hardest-hit areas. Speed is of the essence in the cleanup to prevent the mud from hardening. Sombat Boonngamanong of the Mirror Foundation has provided a practical ten-step guide to help residents tackle the daunting task of cleaning their flooded homes. The initial step involves removing all movable items from the house. This not only facilitates cleaning but also avoids potential encounters with hidden venomous animals. Residents are advised to prepare large containers of water, using river water temporarily if tap water is not available. For effective mud removal, high-pressure water pumps are recommended, though electric versions should be avoided due to the risk of electric shocks. It's crucial to ensure the house’s main power supply is off and to verify that no electricity flows through the sockets. Due to shortages, rubber boots are vital, and those who've finished their cleaning are encouraged to donate their boots to neighbours in need. Emptying the house marks the next stage. Water and a squeegee are essential tools for clearing out the mud. For knee-deep or higher mud, shovels are not practical; instead, using fire trucks or large water tanks can help flush out the mud, particularly if the ground outside is lower than inside. Proper drainage channels must be prepared for this method to be effective. A thorough cleansing of the house involves using chlorine-based agents sparingly to prevent irritation. Cleaning should ideally begin from the upper floors, proceeding downwards, and from the inside of the house to the outside. Once the house is clean, all items returned inside need to be cleaned thoroughly as well. Sombat emphasised the importance of avoiding negative thoughts during this challenging period. Completing the task is more manageable and uplifting when done collectively with neighbours or friends. Volunteering to assist others can forge strong community ties, and such efforts are especially appreciated in difficult times. Since September 15, the Mirror Foundation has been coordinating volunteer efforts to help clean homes. Donations of essential items such as rubber boots, squeegees, shovels, hoes, large water containers, gloves, plastic sacks for flood debris, and water tanks over 60 litres are greatly appreciated to support these ongoing efforts. UPDATE Broker Confesses to Spending Missing Millions After Pickup Truck Submersion Incident Picture courtesy of ThaiRath In a bizarre turn of events following the mysterious disappearance of 4.2 million baht after a truck plunged into a pond, the involved broker, Mr. Thongchai Wongsuwan, has confessed to having spent nearly all of the money, leaving just 500,000 baht. He expressed remorse, stating that karma caught up with him as he planned to confess, but a car accident prevented him from doing so. The incident occurred on the morning of September 14, when Mr. Thongchai, a car sales broker from Ban Rai District, lost control of his pickup truck, sending it into a pond near Wat Huai Khanang in Nong Chang District. He initially claimed that 4.2 million baht in cash was inside the vehicle and had sunk with the truck. Local rescue teams managed to recover 500,000 baht from the water, but suspicions arose when the truck owner, Ms. Sawitree Ruammaitri, demanded a full investigation and even requested the pond be drained to search for the remaining money. However, the pumping was halted after equipment failure on September 15. At 13:30 on September 16, Mr. Thongchai met with Ms. Sawitree at Nong Chang Police Station to settle the dispute. They negotiated the return of the 500,000 baht found at the scene with she also demanded that the full remaining amount be returned in one lump sum, rather than in instalments. Mr. Thongchai stated he has now already repaid 2.1 million baht and, after today’s payment of 500,000 baht, still owes 1.6 million baht. While Mr. Thongchai offered to repay in monthly instalments of 50,000 baht, the other party requested a single payment or valuable assets as compensation. During the negotiations, Mr. Thongchai admitted that he fabricated the story about the money sinking in the pond. He explained that he was shocked and panicked at the time but did not intend to deceive anyone. He confessed that he had spent nearly all of the 4.2 million baht from the car sale, leaving only 500,000 baht. His initial plan was to confess everything, but an accident occurred, almost costing him his life, before he could do so. I think the majority of Republicans still support Trump, but he is moving out of favor with a growing number of them. I think many support him just because they know of no alternative. It’s easy to prove the opposite, because he didn’t like alcohol. As I said before, he was a healthy person, trained in martial arts and was going to the beach for his morning routine. The accident was because he was driving faster than he should + sand + wet road. You can blame he was not wearing a helmet (something very common in KP unfortunately), but he was not coming from a party as mentioned before. -

It was one of the 8 charities that the foundation support which had its fund misused by Trump. There was no evidence of donations to charity by Trump personally. Trump didn't given any of his own money to the Foundation. Almost all the fundings came from other people including some of his business associates. You are embarrassing yourself defending the indefensible.
