I Need An Incoming Fax-to-email Service

Featured Replies

My Phuket hotel is signing an agreement with a new online booking agnecy, but they require us to provide them with a 24/7 telephone number on which incoming faxes sent by them can be automatically received.

The problem is that there are no available lines in our location, (we had to pay big money under the table to get our single phone line a few years ago...)

We currently run our fax machine in manual mode on our phone line, but this is not acceptable to the new online agent. And TOT tell me that paying UTT will not work this time!

So I need to find a 'virtual' fax number for automatic receipt of incoming faxes and forwarding to my email address. This fax number has to be a Thai telephone number, and companies such as eFax don't seem to offer a Thai number...

Of course, I expect to pay for this service.

Does anyone know of a company which offers a fax-to-email service that uses a Thai number?

Thanks

I am not in LOS now,so I can not check in practice how it works.

There are Nokia mobiles, which can receive and display faxes(Brick-model).

You can forward your mobile number to any other with fax machine connected.

You can use your mobile as modem connected to comp with fax program.

In HK there is mobile company:"People" which sell prepaid SIMCards with fax-box(as well,as voice-mail) - capacity of box is small.there is another telco company

offering same service as Efax(and HK number).

I think in LOS - you can get fax-box on postpaid mobile account?

Salutos!

Tell the online booking agency to get with the time and send the bookings by email like the rest of the world. :o

Phil - yes that was my first response to them....

Apparently they7 insist on sending a fax so that there is an audit trail...

Can't see what's wrong with just sending an email.

Try efax.com - i used this with success. The incoming fax is converted into PDF format and you can receive it by mail and you have also an overview of all faxes sent and received through website.

Going through the sign-up, efax does not offer a Thai number. A lot of Asian numbers but no Thai...

As mentioned, Efax doesn't offer a Thai number. Using a PC fax program might be the solution, but only if I attach a GSM modem to it (since I cannot use the existing fixed line to the hotel because a separate number has to be used.

Tollfreeforwarding.com cannot be used - they only offer a toll-free non-geographic number. I need a 'standard' number that starts with country-code 66 (eg, is a geographic number in Phuket or Bangkok).

I could use a virtual office service, but then I'm paying for the virtual office as well and nopt just for the receive-fax facility.

He Simon,

I had once a similar problem, I fixed it very easy and remarkable cheap. I bought a Nokia 6600 (now very cheap), depending on how complete the Nokia 6600 is, you maybe need to buy a data cable (still 80 Baht will not kill you)

Then again if the Nokia comes with CD, you may still want to download the latest software from Nokia you can download the PC/Modem/Fax driver http://europe.nokia.com/A4143898

Really no problems, the Nokia 6600 I use in a rice shack near Khon Kaen works perfect, the battery is down to a 1 to 3 hour life cycle but I just keep it plug-in into the charger (I have a spare charger at hand, as copy chargers are surely not build for 24/7 operation, still a 109 Baht charger per 3 to 5 months is acceptable)

For other telephones be careful, I bought a ultra modern phones which support about everything except turning the telephone into a FAX modem.

Other equipment needed is a small computer, can be a old model as it needs no performance to receive faxes. Belief it or not we use a Intel Celeron 1300Mhz Socket 370 computer running Windows 98. Connected a simple Brother DCP-115C Scanner / Printer combo (which can also be used as color copier).

There is only one catch, sometimes, Thai people have the idea to call the fax number first and then push transmit... This go's wrong in 50% of the cases.... Otherwise automatic fax machine work 100%...

I run a company offering Virtual Office service. Part of our services include receiving Fax on behalf of our customer and forward them via e-mail. Our customer will be provided a local 02 number to use. feel free to PM me for info or visit www dot virtualoffice.co.th

There is also an eFax alternative that based in Thailand, but their service require the sender to key-in extension number eg: 02-xxx-xxxx, wait 5 seconds, press 1234 . this sometime confuse the sender. I think their website is siaminbox.net

Yes, they do offer Bangkok 02- numbers and even Thailand 800 numbers.

George, if tollfreeforwarding.com offers a Bangkok 02 fax-to-email number, then they are hiding that fact pretty well! Their website only offers toll-free 001-800 numbers in Thailand...

I actually have a 02- number from them since 2 months, maybe they are out of stock.

Hi Monty - that Cellfax device looks exactly what I'm after! Anyone seen one at Pantip?? I can come up to BKK from Phuket to buy it if I know for sure that it's available.
