Kickboxer Look For A Teaching Job In Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I'm a kickboxer and I want to train Muay Thai in Chiang Mai for an extended period of time (6 months to 2 years). I have some teaching experience, and I have a college degree. I've done some searches online for teaching schools, TEFL and what not. But I don't know if I really need that stuff, or whether I can do it without a teaching certification. I also don't know where to really begin and who to trust when I search for jobs. If you guys have any advice, or links to share with a newbie... please do.

Thanks

Del

I would imagine that you will pick up work relatively easy as you have a degree and teaching experience which puts you ahead of a lot of the competition. It is also the start of the new term so this will likely work in your favour with some schools desperate to fill vacancies. I would try the job search part of the ajarn forum. It might also be worth your while seeing if your contacts with Thai nationals in the kickboxing world can help you find work.

I know an ex-professional kickboxer who did his TEFL with Siam Educational Experience (SEE) TEFL. They introduced him to his current job and I think this will be his third year with his current employer in Chiang Mai. Contact John as I'm sure he won't mind forwarding your contact details if you want to share experiences with another kick boxer.
