Cable Tv

Featured Replies

I am after having cable TV does anyone know what are the best packages available for Bkk at the moment, is there only one provider?

Thanks

I'll just slip this into the techie area of the forum where you should get a better result. :o

There's only one legal cable TV provider in BKK, which is UBC. They have three packages, discussed in another thread.

The other alternative is to get a satellite feed and free satellite TV. You get a lot of different languages, but the quality of the programming varies.

how do I go about getting a satellite feed?

You need a satellite dish and a receiver. The price varies... from around 5,000 baht to 15,000 baht. Depends on whether you want the dish to be able to move to aim at certain satellites or not. The good thing is that it's a one-time cost, as there are no monthly costs.

Supposedly, you can buy a dish that's compatible with UBC's system, and then buy just the decoder card from UBC, and have the best of both worlds.

That sounds more like it! Where can I get one and just out of interest is it legall?

I don't think UBC will supply you with a card for premium channels, unless you rent the equipment from them or buy the equipment from an authorised UBC dealer.
