Fly with Nok Air or One 2 Go to Don Muang airport.

Then take a taxi to southern bus terminal and take bus number 81 to Kanchanaburi.

BKK – KAN, Departure 5:30 AM to 10:30 PM - every 15 minutes.

KAN – BKK, Departure 4:00 AM to 8:00 PM – every 15 minutes.

Don’t forget to visit Erawan Waterfalls!

Or, after landing, take a taxi to Bangkok Noi railway station in Thonburi.At 3+ hours its slower than the bus but much more colourful and you see a lot more countryside rather than one continuous built-up road strip with mad driving. Felix River Kwai Hotel, we stay there whenever we go to kanch. Very popular with tour companies. From the hotel you can walk to the town, over the bridge..however I don't think I would like to do that walk in the dark..you might get mugged.

The hotel is aging a bit now, the buffet breakfast is quite OK, there are a couple who sing six nights a week, I know that they have been there since at least 2002. Views across the river are beautiful and the main pool with waterfall is outstanding. We have taken several friends there when they have visited and all woild like to stay there again

The rooms which face the river are 500Baht more.

Most tour groups seem to eat at the floating restaurant, but the restaurant jut up river, you access it from the main road is nicer.
