The Phuket ‘Summer Season’ is arranging a massive Clean Up Phuket at every location possible on Thursday 28 May.

The organizers of the recently launched ‘Phuket Summer Season’ campaign told Andaman News that their latest initiative is a community outreach effort called ‘Keeping Phuket Clean’, designed to help keep the beaches of Phuket sparkling clean over Summer Season – May through November – and to help create an ongoing working model so beach communities can accomplish this task year round. The program officially launches with the Clean Phuket Day, Thursday May 28th 2009 at 4PM in over 20 locations throughout the island. Alternatively, if the weather doesn’t cooperate the event will take place on May 29th, also at 4PM. A Kamala Beach group, organized by Beautiful World and Rockfish Restaurant, recently had over a 100 people turn up and made an impressive difference. Kamala was voted one of the top ten beaches in the world by Conde Nast in 2006 and after the clean up it was evident why. Those interested in participating on 28 or 29 May can get further information for their particular area at www.summerinphuket.com
