Which Bike Is Better..2 Suzukis

Featured Replies

im thinking of buying an old superbike from years ago..my friend has these two bikes for sale ..both are very clean...he is looking 2,500 euros for each......maybe some of you had experiences of these bikes ..any info appreciated...im buying one of these to keep as a little investment ..not to make money ..just to own an old bike from the past and keep it for hopefully many years to come.....?????

Dunno much about the bikes mate, but doing a quick search online, the GSX looks the business to me...put a set of clip-on bars, and there you go!

i like the 1000 better

Original GS series have two valves per cylinder. The X designation specifies a four valve per cylinder motor, which would be much sweeter.

I had a new 1982 GS850 for over 50,000 miles. Wouldn't pay US$800 for such old bikes.

thats the price they are making now because they will be collectors items in a few more years

I had a chop with a GS1000E engine in it for 10 years (actually i still have it stored in boxes in a friends garage in sweden). I liked the engine a lot, but with it being so old, i had to replace all main bearings, plus get the head redone with new valves etc as it bsically got worn out. sounded great with a harris race pipe though. Put a set of 750 carbs on it will improve your midrange if you buy it.

PB is right unless you are looking at an outstanding bike.

I used to race a GS1000 in the UK.

Old bikes now.,,,be careful.

Remember Barry Sheene

OK not 4 stroke but same era

Had a GSX1100E in oz, silver with blue panels, 19" front wheel. Seem to remember the GS1000 had problems with the standard fairing causing lift at high speed, a few deaths blamed on it. Stay away from the GSX if it is the later 16" front wheel, lost 2 mates to those mongrels.

Compared to modern bikes they will be a touch "agricultural".

As to being collectors items.........................hmmmm!!!

hi thanks for comment...ive changed my mind about these bikes now...im looking at a z 650 or a z1000 now...650 is 1976 and z thousand is 77

Never liked the z650, but the Z1000 with the coffin shaped tank was a good'un - nearly bulletproof.

Wake up, mate - and do not do any business with this "friend". that is an outrageous price IMHO.

Which country?

Check out www.mobile.de for German prices with photos. Click on the bike symbol, then scroll down to Suzuki...

No offence, but there has been technological progress, especially with frames. They sell CBR 600s starting at 1000 Euros in Germany. Not sure where you are located, as you quoted EUR 2.500. But I have found out the hard way that some friends take advantage one way or another.

Even with green book and in superb condition, I would not pay that much for either bike.

Shop around, or get a realistic price!

No offence intended.

Chris

Agreed, prices seem way too high for tired old bikes. Something collectible would be the first Honda Interceptor, first GSXR, a Katana. At half the price.
