Thinking of getting a lapdog (oops, laptop) and will need a wi-fi modem at home to make it worthwhile.

Is there anything I should think about/avoid?

What I really want to know is HOW MUCH TO PAY?

I have a D-Link DSL-2640T - T stands for Thailand I was told. 4 LAN /1 WLAN.

In Sept. 2008 I paid Baht 1890 for it. Is it good? I could not say that it is bad. What hurts ME a bit is that it is G and not N or N+. So when you have a home network and want to watch a DVD that is on a different computer then G is not fast enough. But be aware - your notebook needs to have the higher standard too.

If you do not have this problem and just want to use internet then no problems at all. Your ADSL has a long way to go until G will be a bottleneck...

One thing - cannot find the D-Link webpage here in Thailand anymore. Perhaps they left...us alone.

Did you try to give the printer a fixed IP?

I need a new DSL Modem (wireless N capable) to use with my AirPort Extreme wireless router.

I'm presently using a Linksys Modem but it tends to overheat.

Any suggestions?

^ Run it in the fridge?

Linksys have always had 'hot' units, if not the modem, then the power supply. Maybe not an issue in equable climes but has been known to cause problems when there's no airconditioning around. Get a 4" box fan from a computer parts supplier and have that move the air around your modem, should be OK with that.
