I went to min of 3 dealer and ask for lots of extra from each and telling them about the other dealer give me this or that, and normally the new dealer ups the deal. You probably have to pay the list price for the car but each dealer will give you extra like films, sensors, etc.
Vans Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Im getting a toyota vigo raised platform 4x4 very soon. I am buying in Phuket. There is only two toyota dealers here and they are both from the same person who runs it, according to the pple here. Not sure. I heard from one of my Thai fren he suggested that i ask someone to go along with me. That person will get paid commission. Like 5,000 b ?? In this way i can collect the cash from my trusted fren and in return i use the money for modding my truck. Is this true ?
Vans Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Any tips on getting the best deal possible will be very much appreciated.

Off the top of my head, I would have to say any commission would be added to your purchase price. Now if you know a Thai that bought a vehicle recently and got a better deal than you have been offered so far, ask him/her to go with you. Follow Givenall's advice and make several trips to both as if they were independent dealers. Keep poking away at the price, show interest but no hurry, and who knows what discounts might be offered to make the sale. I got free Class A insurance for the first year (besides other discounts). I had a sales person call me up and match another dealer's/sales person's offer a week after they told me they could not and not getting a sale. Apparently they kept working on it in some manner.

You probably have to pay the list price for the car but each dealer will give you extra like films, sensors, etc. This is exactly what the wife an I did when we bought our Triton. Went around three local dealers and went from 720k and no extras to 680k with loads thrown in complete with years 1st class insurance. Keep plugging away and you will eventually come to their 'best' offer.
Mosha Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Even though you are set on buying a Toyota, go look at similar models of other brands. Then say to the dealer, "So and so is giving me ..." It works we had the dealers calling us.

BigSnake Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Yes, get all the extra/accessories you want than offer this a cash price, CASH is the Key.
Vans Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 Let say the truck is 750,000 baht is it possible to deal at 700,000 baht? As i come to know that manufacturer 'sold' to them at around 500,000-600,000 And is outside banks auto finance interest rates lower than the one offered in the car dealer it self ? How should i play this game ? I am looking like : Dealer cost + 5 % profit for them

Both cars (Vios and Yaris) 20,000 Baht cheaper without the 'freebies'. You can discount the price and then add back 'freebies' that you want (but will be charged for them)

REMEMBERif you dont ask you wont get just try it you might be surpised good luck jp

SantiSuk Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Yes, get all the extra/accessories you want than offer this a cash price, CASH is the Key. Are you sure that cash is the key? My girlfriend tells me after we have visited several Toyota and Honda dealers in our area (Ubon) that they prefer to sell with their own finance than for cash (the implication being you might get more freebies) cos that is where car dealers make their real money. Crazy, but in this stupid world (ie not just LOS) of 'never never' it makes sense to me. Of course it will still make much more sense to buy cash if you have the money, even if cosmetically it looks like you get more in up front freebies
