Sms Not Delivered For Up To 12 Hours - Reasons?

Featured Replies

Over the last couple of weeks when I have been sending text messages out, they have been taking up to 12 hours and in a couple of cases they have failed, yet I know the recipients phone is on.

I currently have 2 messages 'waiting' to be delivered and I sent those around 11 p.m. last night. Now it is 10 a.m.

The recipients phone was definitely on at 03-30 as I have 2 missed calls logged at that time. Also I have phoned the number 2 times since 9 a.m. and it is on.

Any ideas why this could be? I am on AIS12call and the recipients are on the same.

Is this a problem with AIS or do others have the same problem?

Can only recommend this: contact AIS helpdesk and report your issue. It looks a AIS related issue. Has this problem with DTAC sometimes. Too many sms to handle - server overloaded...

Further you should check in your phone settings the "sms maximum delivery time"

In case you have the problem only with a specific number but all, then the receiving phone carrier might have a problem too.

Such issues are not always related to the sms sender carrier but recipient carrier as well.

Call AIS

This is not an infrequent occurrence.

A year or so back all my messages, both incoming and outgoing were delivered up to 12 hours late. I was told there were some "technical problems" with AIS, but I personally believe the network was so full that everything started to fall apart. It happens with calls sometimes on busy holiday weekends in Pattaya when all the Thais descend from Bangkok, and call their friends and family all day long.

I was highly embarrassed once by an sms from a "certain person" that was delivered at 3.am but was sent in the afternoon of the previous day, and the wife wanted to know who sent it!

Believe it or not, on several occasions,I have found the AIS staff at our local office very helpful, and they have even followed up by phone to check if my problem has been resolved.

Thanks for the informative replies.

Good to know I am not the only one having these difficulties and that other sms do sometimes take that long. :)

I'll be phoning AIS.

Hi.

If YOU se a message "waiting to be delivered" then the issue is on YOUR end, not on the receiving end. Because your phone sends the SMS to the message center and from there it gets delivered to the receiver. If however the message does not leave your phone in first place then there is a problem with your number.

Yup, calling AIS is what you need to do, maybe they have to reset something somewhere and it will work again.

AIS sucks anyway - i have too much trouble calling to AIS numbers from non-AIS networks, always getting the message "sorry, the destination network is busy" which means simply that AIS is totally overcrowded and won't accept calls from other networks. I have that problem with Hutch, D-TAC and even land lines, sometimes i need to dial 25-35 times before getting through.

Best regards....
