They're showing the other Semi Germany V Italy Live now on Channel 7..

Well done England for finally winning a semi-final on penaltys. Seems Joe Hart will appeal but he doesn't hold out much hope for playing in the final. Well done again lads

Anyone know if there showing the match tonigth anywhere on UBC. Im guessing it will be on Channel7 but I cant find there listings online in English.

The game against Spain was a massive disappointment for those that had hoped to see a good game of football. Spain were unexpectedly poor, very poor. The England team weren't that impressive either. After a poor first-half by both sides, it looked as if Spain were going to capitalise on their early second-half dominance. But after the first goal just seemed to lose any confidence that they could have built on. I'm going to pick out Milner as an example of someone who cannot pass and when he does , makes the wrong decision. Frankly. England aren't good enough to win this. Unless the opposition are worse.

I hate to say that I told you so ...

And that Pearce has just been given a new two-year contract is short-sighted in the extreme. He has no imagination and is a very average manager. Nothing like ensuring that the England U21's will win absolutely nothing in the foreseeable future I suppose.

what was that wallcoctt uo front as a striker all about?

surely we have striker options.

we had 60% posession and was totally outclassed.

they have some good young players comming through the germans.

My own country. What an interesting concept. Anyway ...

What my bright boy has a got to do with b ? You are further up than even Mr.B.J who also struggled to understand that one doesn't have to support a team to understand the limitations of it.

Still you been born of a Pearly King and Queen have no doubt watched every game, if not have been there yourself. :D

So exactly how many matches did you actually watch, MSingh ?

PS

I'll be watching every game in the Ashes series and hoping that we win. You see I find England cricket supporters less of an embarrassment than Ingerland football supporters. I wonder why ? :D

That wasn't my point at all. My point was that I have mates who don't support England and trying to have a reasoned debate with them is futile. They have their reasons for not supporting their country but I don't agree with them.

Therefore, when you said that in your post, it reminded me of the conversations with my mates and to be honest, I didn't want to waste any more of my time discussing it with you. You can still have your point of view but I'm not gonna respond and debate them with you.

Not if the cricket supporters are all like you :)

Nice one Singhy, no chance of reeling you in on that one then :)

So you just agree to differ. Fair do's.

Why on earth not ? If you have a point of view then express it. Although preferably based upon reason and not reaction. :)

They are a civilised lot with an understated passion for the game , true :D

Understated passion !! "Barmy army" and "understated" just don't go hand in hand to me. :D

The Barmy Army are an exception I must admit. Although they're an accepted part of Test Matches nowadays, but mainly abroad. I haven't noticed them in recent Test matches over the Summer. But no doubt they'll surface again when the Ashes begin next week. Although, fair play, they're never violent and do add a bit of colour to the proceedings sometimes.

My worries were when Twenty20 first took-off. I had fears that it might go the same way as football (there were some incidents) being that it attracted the same with short attention spans and a lot of booze beforehand. But I'm pleased to say that any bad potential came to nothing and you don't even see football shirts being worn nowadays, as some tended to do originally.

Exciting and a crowd puller as Twenty20 may be. Still not entirely sure that it can be classed as being proper cricket though. :)

Absolutely. I mean how can anything beat 4 days of entertainment and then on the fifth day, it pours down and the game is drawn. That's true entertaining sport for you, when even the god's make sure no one loses. :D

Twent20's rule for me.

Saying all of that. I will also be watching the Ashes. :D

a five-day test match which ends in a draw is one of the great triumphs of sport over americanism. never forget that. :D

Tis a labour of love when the taking part is more important than the winning.

Twenty20's rule for me.

A different set of skills that has added an extra dimension to the proper game. Backward sweep-shot, etc. But a cricketer learns to ply his trade and home his character in the County games. And long may that remain so in whatever any new format may yet be revealed.

In the shortened game, I still prefer the forty or fifty over. What would international cricket be without the ODI and county without the Pro40? Although alas, next season we are going to deprived of the latter. :D

But I can at least relish the memory of seeing Essex win that trophy -- and in beating Kent taboot -- at Lords last year. :D

Saying all of that. I will also be watching the Ashes. :)

You can get that in Thailand then ? I have often wondered. But it must be on at godforsaken times of the day and night ?

PS

Another thing to take into consideration when thinking about Twenty20, is that it might eat itself as the ECB and ICB milk the last drop of lucre from it. That has already begun to happen in England. For instance, not a month ago Essex had one game on the Monday and then one on the Wednesday in the same week. I'd have loved to go to both but couldn't afford it. I don't know the attendance for the second game, but doubt if many others went to both either.

Pleased to see that at least one other views things along the same lines as me. :)

I reside in Saudi Arabia HH. Only 2 hours ahead of the UK and access to a whole heap of sports. I never missed a single City game last season. Thankyou very much to the inventor of the satellite (Arthur C Clarke I think) :)
