Probably wont help you as it is in Phuket, but I have just joined Nai Harn Gym. More expensive than most at 1700 baht a month, but it is very clean, with all new equipment, many airconditioning units, (unlike three other area gyms I can think of that have inedequte, non existent, or non-operative airconditioning) excellent knowledgeable and helpful staff, showers, free lockers, free shower towels and workout towels, free bananas, 2 50" flat screen TV's and nice big secure parking lot. Hours 7a-10p

What may be of some use to people outside Phuket also, I've also heard Hilton offers memberships to their gyms for 1,200 baht a month. You get use of Sauna and Pool as well. Maybe even tennis courts, I'm not sure. You can workout 24/7 there. Next month I plan on checking that out. There may be other resorts that do this as well.

Try "True Fitness", junction Asok, about 1700/month if you are one year member. clean, modern, sometimes busy, during evening time. Had good experience. I forgot the name of the building.

Hi I don't want to upset you, but I am a member of Fitness First, The Landmark, Sukhumvit and I pay 1500 baht per month for my membership. I can use the gym anytime but I don't have a free towel service.

I had to negotiate this and did so over 1 year ago on an 18 month agreement which is still running. They tried to get me to pay a lot more but I negotiated with the Manager (a Farrang guy I think from Turkey)

I hear most gyms are the same you just have to negotiate hard. Good luck!

Hi just thought I'd share-- I pay about 1100 baht/month with a one year membership paid up front to True Fitness at Asoke(I can go anytime and includes towel but not a lock for the locker-- which I didn't realize was an option so I didn't negotiate for it) Whatever you do figure out what you'd like to pay, then go in and hear what they have to say tell them its just to expensive for you, let them make you another offer and then tell them you'd really like to work you there but you are only able to pay XXXX... even if they don't met your offer you can always tell them you have to think about it and leave. My impression is they have monthly and weekly quotas that they are having a hard time meeting.

This is the most I've ever paid for club membership and I've belonged to some nice clubs back home. Several things that disappointing to me about True Fitness:

1) They have a zillion tv all over the gym but none of them have radio transmitters on them. Every gym I've belonged to with TVs in the past decade has had radio transmitters associated with their TVs. These transmitters allow you to tune in to a specific FM radio frequency (that is noted on a card typically attached to the front of the tv) from your radio (I have a Zune that has a radio) where you can hear the dialogue from the TV... Personally, this helps the time pass for me as I work out. (In fact, if I'd know this beforehand I probably won't have joined as my apartment's gym has a TV and is never in use.)

2) Make sure you specifically request an orientation to the gym equipment. This is not automatically included in your gym membership, what they want to do is sell you time with a personal trainer. But again, if for nothing else than liability reasons or the well-being of their customers not hurting themselves, I was surprised that they do not offer to walk you through a 30 min. orientation that shows you how the various equipment works.

3) A pet peeve of mine is that they have these class schedules in english but the staff can't really explain to you (in english) what the different classes are and despite asking, they have not provided a key to the schedule at the gym or on line (e.g. difference between cycling clinic, RMP and cycling class)

4) Try to avoid giving them your phone number or email address otherwise you'll start getting this sms in thai which are advertisements.

Good luck.
