My dad pops over every year and has been getting Non Imm O visas. This year he's coming for 4 months.

I read somewhere that tourist visas are free. Can he get a double entry tourist visa? If only a single entry, what would be his best bet?

Cheers

Depending on the embassy/consulate, if you have proper traveling arrangement, i.e. air tickets or bus ride tickets, your dad can get double entry tourist visa for free.

Depends on country of origin too

UK are giving ONLY single entry tourist visas for free, and charging £15 handling fee on top

He's Uk and has used Hull for the previous few visas.

I use hull . I think the free ones ended at the end of June , I got a free visa but it was £10 . 01482 581668 ring them .

Tourist Visas are free until March 4th. However Hull are charging a £15 Admin fee because of lost revenue.

There was a report of only being issued a single entry.

An airticket out is needed. A bus ticket is not acceptable to Thai offices.

As an alternative he could...

#1 get a free (£15) tourist visa from Hull, enter Thailand but ask the immigration to NOT use it, and give him 30 days. Then after his 30 days go to Siam Reap and return by land using the 60(+30) day visa.

#2 get NO visa at all and be stamped in on arrival for 30 days, then after that time go to Siam Reap, then Pnom Phen (spell?) to get a free 60(+30) tourist visa. Do they do them there?

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

Ask for a multiple non-O based on visiting you from Hull. More expensive, but would give him 90 day at a time each time he enters Thailand during one year. So saves the cost for extensions.

Thanks Mario.

That is the most likely option but he's just trying to save himself that £100.

I read in the Bangkok post that the tourist Visa 'extension' is also free, is this true? (The one that you get after 2 months has expired and you used to pay 1900B for)

Is news to be. All visa extensions cost 1,900 baht. Maybe you can scan/post the article?

Thanks for the responses. I believe no free visa extension is accurate as well. Which is why I read and re-read that Bangkok Post article and was puzzled.

Unfortunately, that article must have been about 2 weeks ago and I was reading it over breakfast at a restaurant.....
