OK it is not due till March 2010, but like to be ready early...

I have 1x '0-A' Visa then 5 yearly extensions, but will be unable to meet the 800,000 requirements until end of December 2012..

My thoughts were to go to Perth [cannot find the topic of a few days ago] have been checking flights and Hotels, but form Mid Feb till Mid April both flights and Hotels appear to be 'Sold Out' [except expensive ones..... have a friend that works for Thai air and she cannot find a seat!!]

Therefore is it possible to got to KL for a 90 day Visa? and then go to Perth later in the year June?

or can I keep going to KL for 90 day Visa's for 2 years?

You are aware than income/pension letter from Embassy can be combined with bank account and used to meet the 800k requirement?

For retirement Consulates expect you to extend your stay and issue the single entry non immigrant O visa for that reason (they seldom issue more than single entry). They could refuse doing so more than once but then again you might not have any problem doing for a year or two. I would bring an account book with me each time just in case they want to satisfy themselves you can support yourself. If need be you can use 60 day tourist visas. Even Penang will issue another if you do not extend it seems (and other consulates have no issues with issue).

As for cheap flights it may be the carriers have not allocated seating that far in advance - most seem to only have two or three month advise availability in computers. Also expect most have cut way back on flights so if they are indeed full they will probably be adding flights later.

As the OP only needs to hold on for two years before doing the retirement thing again, he might consider going the ED visa route to study Thai. This is very reliable as opposed to the proposed plan and the hours in class requirements are rather mild. Of course, you need to live in a city with schools participating with the education ministry to do that.

Yes I have looked at this, and would love to learn Thai, it is just works out so very expensive... worked out it would cost over 80,000 baht just on petrol + school fees + going out to get the ED Visa + the extensions every 3 months, per year..

Much cheaper to get a Visa and then drive to Bang Yai Language School, sadly they do not offer the ED visa, but offer 2 types of learning...

30 hours 1 on 1 @ 12,000 baht or 60 hours in a class of 4 for the same price... + Bang Yai is only 20km away

Yes in 2 years this will be fine.

Yes but believe will need a proper VISA and not a tourist visas to get another 5 year driving license in December 2010 ?

tourist visas = 1 yr drivers license ?

Yes this could be true, at least on 'Royal Brunei' it is the case..... + mid Feb to 26 March [last day of extension] there appears to be school holidays, Chinese New Year, and start of Easter holidays.

The tourist visa could be used however. And it was not my first choice - just an option if a Consulate had heartburn over the number of non immigrant visas you were using - I am sure you will not have to use this year.
