Going To Ko Phangan And Ko Samui

Featured Replies

Hello boys and girls! ))

Me and my friend are flying to Bangkok on th 25th of August, then the same evening we are going to Ko Phangan. In 5 or 6 days we will go to Ko Samui and from there to Malaysia.

My two questions are:

What weather should we expect from the 26th of August until Sep15? I hope not only rain? Is there any chance we are gonna enjoy a bit of sun?

ANd the second question is how much money should we plan in our travel budget? Everyone say its so cheap, its so cheap, someone even told me that you can have a thai meal for two for 1 dollar ))) So how much it is to have food for a couple per day? We are fine with rice and chicken, nothing fancy, maybe some beer.

Thanx

The weather should be hot and sunny with some tropical downpours in the afternoons.

By Thai standards Samui is quite expensive. Stay away from the tourist restaurants and it is a lot cheaper and the food is usually better. It really is up to you.

You can get rice and chicken for around 40 Baht in the Thai places. Noodle Soup 30 Baht.

A small beer in a bar is about 60 Baht. The US Dollar is now 33.89 Baht.

Don't worry so much about food cost.

Accommodation and transportation is you should budget for.

Even on a small budget you should calculate around 1000 baht/day.

Some people do that easily way below 1.000 a day. Rent, for instance, a bungalow at one of the places between Hin Ta Hin Yai and Hua Thanon for 3.000/month, eat at market restaurants only, beer at the 7/11s...

Meeting point was at the so called "asylum seeker's bench" next to the 7/11 central Lamai. Is it still there btw?
