I don't think any Golf Course in Thailand even demands that you have an official Handicap before allowing you to play. Patrick

All the courses I know of offer a Local rate that is much lower than the "tourist" rate... The only way to get the local rate is to show your Thai licence...

Talking about the GVB I would imagine, guarantees a certain level of ability and knowledge of the rules and etiquette of golf and is designed to keep complete novices off the course and wacking their golf balls into other people! There is no GVB here in Thailand although the Golf courses / Golfing societies like you to have a basic understanding of the rules and etiquette, and at least be able to get round the course
