The new American model looks a little better than the current Thai model....but I would rather have an Accord!

Looking at the USA price leaves me shaking my head at the cost here.

No Kidding!

Basic model price USA:

$19,395 = 661,481 Baht

Basic model price Thailand:

Baht 1,214,000 = $35,694

Ouch.

Plus  throw in the difference in labor costs between the us manufactured toyotas vs. thai manufactured toyotas and there's some serious margins on the toyotas for the tax man and the manufacturer in thailand.

I do think these new camrys don't look very good compared to the old model or the accords.

I just looked at the new Camry model marketed in US

New body,many emhancements;see here http://www.toyota.com/camry/photo-gallery.html

But I fear we will have to wait a lot as Toyota just launched her the Hybrid with the "old" body.

Camry in US and Camry in Thailand are different.

There is no new Camry in US - just face-lifting

And Camry in Thailand jast has a face-lifting also

There is a price difference between US and LOS, but to compare these 2 prices is nonsense. The spec is very different, low spec Camrys without leatherseats, electric gismos and such are not sold in LOS. LOS price include all taxes, fees, roadtax and usually 1st year insurance.

secondhand value in 3 years is normally 70%. Try that in the US. Total costs for an identical spec Camry in US and LOS for 3 years is very similar

You bet! The foreign manufacturers are laughing all the way to their banks.

A few special interest group here also benefits at the expense of the consumers :)

Not sure.Read carefully the specs of the "US" Camry and you will see this one has many improvements on the actual one (more airbags...)

The body and especcally the front of the car reflects the general appearance of Toyota cars in Europ for example.
