Farang refuses to pay bar bill

news492-march2005.jpg

As soon as the foreign gentlemen found himself in the stationhouse he had no trouble finding the money

At 1am on March 13, Wantee Pongsumarn, 28, from the 'We are the World' bar escorted an unidentified foreigner to Pattaya Police Station to complain that the man had not paid allof his bill. Apparently the customer had run a bill of 1,235 baht but felt that this was too much and only wanted to pay 660 baht and tried to leave. It was at this point that Wantee insisted he handed over the remaining 575 but the drunken man refused. Putting up very little resistance he was forcibly grabbed and taken to the boys in brown to settle the matter. Bizarrely, as soon as the foreign gentlemen found himself in the stationhouse he had no trouble finding the money and promptly handed over the cash to Wantee.

Wantee was satisfied with this and decided not to press charges. Both left the police station and went their separate ways.

Years ago I made the mistake of going into a Patpong upstairs bar. The tout assured me that it was an ok bar with good prices. RIGHT! The drink prices were reasonable and I was entertained by three really nice looking girls. I was keeping track of my check bin by looking at each bill when the drinks were served. When I was ready to leave I gave each of the girls a hundred baht tip and called for check bin. The bastard came back with a new bill in the cup. An entertainment charge of 3,000 baht. I took it out and threw it on the floor. Immediately the front door was locked and the goons came to my table. The fact was that I didn't have that much money so I told them that they would just have to kill me because I WASN'T paying it. The girls actually saved me and I got out because of the 100 baht tips I had given them. :o
