General Prayuth Chan-ocha has emerged as the heir apparent to succeed Army chief General Anupong Paochinda following the release of the royal command for military reshuffle involving 568 generals on Thursday.

The military line-up will take effect on October 1.

Prayuth, presently the Army chief-of-staff, is promoted to the position of deputy Army commander-in-chief.
