Gold (yellow?) Health Card

Featured Replies

According to information given to my GF in her local ampur in Isaan, when we marry I will also be able to use the government health scheme. I don't think this is correct. Any thoughts? I'm a 65 year old retired Brit, and will shortly be on retirement extension.

You will be able to use government hospitals and clinics. The cost is minimal.

If you get a job you may be eligible for Thai Social Security health benefits.

The gold card is a Government welfare service for Thai citizen.

Yes that it right, but it is worth knowing about for Thai relatives. The website is in English now.

The scheme is also called the 'UC scheme' and was previously known as the 30 baht project. It is not well understood by expats.

Even the Burmese children who were born in LOS can not use this benefit.

No it wont cover you. As the other poster said, the cost at local hospital is not bad.
